I got this motor with my 64 vert, it was rebuilt and sitting on the stand when I got it. I swapped to a D4B intake. I broke the motor in and have been working on it and firing it up and running it hear and there to warm it up and get a few heat cycles to cure exhaust paint etc and it had ran great. Then it started blowing white smoke on the right side, car never overheated. I let it cool, the when the radiator was lightly warm to the touch, I slowly popped the cap off and there was a bunch of pressure and my coolant level was no where to be seen. I took the spark plug out of the right side and saw coolant in #6. I stuck a shop vac over the hole to suck the coolant I could see out (it was at TDC) and did the other cylinders too just in case. I could hear the vacuum bearing down on the other cylinders, but not so much on #6. I pulled the intake and the right side head and cannot see any obvious blown head gasket. The head bolts all felt good when I broke them loose to remove the head. Do I get another felpro gasket and hope for the best? You can see where they used copper spray, could that be a factor and should not have been used with the 8553 gaskets? Should I re-do both side and use a Felpro 1008 gasket or find NOS gaskets?

First thing I'd do is clean up the head and deck and get/ borrow a precision straightedge and check for warp.

It's a little concerning that they would use copper spray. Those perma-torque gaskets are pretty good IMO. It's hard to tell, but it doesn't look like there was a good transfer of gasket material in some places. Like 67 said, probably time to check the decks and heads.

EDIT
Bear in mind it could be a crack in cylinder. Examine it closely. And could be crack in head such as intake port, etc Pull the valves out of that cylinder and examine interior of seat/ port area

LOLOL. One thing you could do is swap heads to other side and see if the leak follows!!!

I had a similar issue with a rebuilt 66 273 hipo engine I bought. I replaced the head gasket it was my number 6 cylinder didn’t seal. I went with the felpro.

If it blew id say it was at the lower left coolant passage. See of you can find a smaller bore head gasket.

Have the head pressure tested for cracks and or leaking seats.,They can go into water.

Yes there is a little coolant mixed with the oil, there was some also under the valve cover, i did not see any on the dipstick.

Those teflon coated head gaskets should not have sealer on them. I'd pull the other side too.

The head and the block look like they were surfaced, so I'm thinking either a head gasket sealing failure or crack in the head, less likely a cracked block

You should have pressure checked the cooling system before tear-down.
While thats a good way to see if there is a leak...it wont pinpoint it.. to say 'a cracked head or gasket'...it just tells you whether or not the system leaks in general.
He already knows it leaks by the coolant filled chamber.

Pressure test the head itself once its off , to see if its cracked...disassemble and mag it to find the cracks.

Milkshake isn't horrible, but yes, oil will be drained! I'll pull the other head an clean off the copper crap and put on a new gasket just for peace of mind. Is there a better gasket I should use instead of the Fel-Pro 8553? or are they fine? This car is just a cruiser.

I think you'll be fine with the 8553. The 1008 is also a good head gasket, just a bit more expensive.
