My 81 year old father-in-law is facing post-operative complications from a bowel resection.

This is the second thing he has faced in the last few months. He fought off a wicked total body infection starting in November that took 24 hr infusions of antibiotics for 6 weeks to kick...only to be followed by a lesion on his colon this past month that required surgery and removal of 10” of his colon. He was doing ok for a few days, but now he has another infection happening and it is becoming life threatening.

This man served his Country as a Marine starting in 1967 when he left his 2 year old son and newborn daughter (now my wife) to serve. He dedicated his life to honor and serving. He later became a graduate of the Wharton Businesss School earning his MBA. He spent decades of his life after that helping mentally disadvantaged children become better capable for independent life through his work at Elwin Institute.

Today, he is fighting this latest battle in order to live more and be there for my daughter as the proud man he is.

Please, if you have a few moments to spare in your thoughts...spend some of them wishing him well on his path to recovery.

His name is Leonard Breitfeller and he is one of the finest men I have ever known.

He's got my prayers.
Semper Fi ! Marine !
I pray for the best.

Thank for your service Sir. You are in my family’s thoughts and prayers.

I just said a little prayer for Mr. Breitfeller. I had a blood infection in 2018 called Klebsiella, and it will kick your butt! It came out of my digestive tract, but they never figured out where. Hopefully, they will get him fixed up and he will feel better soon.

Thank you all gentlemen, every good thought counts and is appreciated. For my wife especially, she is struggling hard with this and the kind thoughts are very comforting to her.

Thank you again.

First, lets get your **** straight. There's NO such thing as a "former" Marine. He's a Marine. Once a Marine, always a Marine!

Now, you bet I'll stop and say a prayer for this Marine. You tell him I said to kick its *** and get well. I'll say a prayer for him tonight. Semper Fidelis!

Thanks Rob. He calls himself a Former Marine and I’m not about to argue with him. Even At 81 years old and now fighting this infection, he could probably still kick my ***!

I will call him whatever he wants to be called...with total respect.

Well......I'll go along with all that then. lol

Nobody on this planet tougher than a Marine. Prayers for a speedy recovery. Thank you, sir, for your service to our great country. Salute.

Much respect and prayers sent his way!

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts.

Len had a difficult night with his fever jumping up and the incision began weeping. He saw the surgeon today and he is concerned about what he saw. They did X-rays, drew blood and want to see him back tomorrow. The surgeon said was concerned enough that he may need to open him up again and see what is going on.

I could hear in Len’s voice how worn down and tired he his. Please keep him in your thoughts if you can.

Well I sure wish him well. I'm only 72, but that last two years has been "a little rough" Age sure makes it harder, and even a few more years makes things WAY harder.

Yes prayers sent for a full recovery. Thanks you again for your service to our country.
My dad saw 20 or was it 25 years in the USMC WW11 and Korea. Most all before I was born.
