Most importantly go over to mr norms to get a Paxton blower installed so I blow almost any other muscle car in the dirt
The one I have now.
11 years old!, but your car is a great choice, and I absolutely agree with the price! Besides the post may be old, but picking our dream cars never gets old!You realize this thread is almost 10 years old?
But to answer this question I would order the same car I bought new in 1971. A left over 1970 340 4speed Duster. Tor-Red, red bench seat interior. Oh and I’d like to pay the same price I paid back then $2805.00
I wound up putting a set of Hedman headers on my new 70 340 4 speed Duster. Of course I threw those worthless Hp manifolds away! Later I put a 3310 780 Holley on it that was $49.95 new. I also put a Mallory dual point and a 4.30 gear in it. I had the rear ralley wheels widened 3” and ran JC Penny J-60 Scat Tracs on the rear. That was one fun car.Instead of fantasy - how about reality ?
I DID factory order a brand new 1970 Plymouth Duster 340 in B7 Jamaica Blue Metallic, stripes delete, protective body side moldings, B5 / B7 interior, Deluxe Interior with Decor Group, Bench seat with center arm rest, 3.55 Sure Grip, 727 automatic, AM radio, Heavy duty battery and cooling, Light Group, Heavy duty electrical system, GoodYear Raised White Letter tires.
$2,840 delivered price...Took delivery of car in June 1970, I was 19 years old working for United Parcel Service and attending college... I was lucky in that I had an older brother working as a car salesman at a large Chrysler Plymouth Dodge dealership so I had access to all the dealer factory ordering materials to build the exact car I wanted via factory order.
Wanted a 4 speed car but the insurance rates for a 19 year old male driving a 4 speed were absolutely impossible.
The base no option 1970 Duster 340 was well equipped with standard equipment for $2,547 MSRP ---- manual disc brakes, rally road wheels, E70 - 14 tires, true dual exhaust with rear turndown pipes, rallye gauge package, heavy duty suspension with front sway bar, full longitudinal and transverse stripe package, 340 V-8 Four Barrel, 8 3/4 rear axle with 3.23 ratio - all standard equipment.
Chrysler had constraints throughout the 1970 model year where you could not order some options - for example the Super Axle Package was generally not available - only available via factory order for a very narrow window of the model year therefore it was not generally seen on most 1970 Duster 340s.... it was generally reserved for 4 speed cars.
Sold the car in early 1973 to pay for college tuition ... Don't know what ever happened to the car ....
