Sure grip housing... send it?

Take a run out and backlash reading on the current open diff set up.

Swap the ring gear to SG diff, install it, set back lash and if you want, run out. Drive it.

All SG's swap from case to case. Doesn't matter where the SG diff started, they all fit in other cases without issue.

Found some more questionable issues. Pinion gear has some wear on the leading edges, this one in photo being the worst. Ring gear looks beautiful, everything turns and feels really smooth. This is more than only cosmetic like the sg housing... but still...?

That's normally caused by one thing. The pinion nut backing off and it's pretty common. I've chucked a few up in a lathe before and turned them out just to make um "look nice" again, but it's totally unnecessary. Let her rip.
I found the pinion gear has some wear, including this worst part (see previous post above with latest photos).

The thread for this post kind of ran it's course so was trying to bring attention to this. I'm hoping I can just go with it. The ring gear looks great.

To everyone who replied, thanks for all the advice.

Wasn't much to say with that chunk missing outta the pinion, sorry to say, I wouldn't run that for fear of messing anything else up if/when something else goes awry.
If I had to run it. It'd be with the expectation of more carnage .
Good luck.

I think if that chip is the worst of it, I'd knock the sharp edges off with a file and set it back up and run it. Of course, as already mentioned, there are no guarantees.
