Finishing stages of my restore and I am trying to keep this truck as close to original as possible. Does anyone know what new mufflers would be close to original for this truck? Also how was the exhaust routed through the bottom of the truck? All I have is a straight pipe on it now and it isn't a hot rod (top speed is about 65

Can tell you my '89 D100 318 goes with the Y-Pipe heading down the inside passenger frame rail, heading into a muffler just in front of the axle, up over the rear end and out just behind the right rear wheel.

'89 has 2 1/2" pipe from the Y-Pipe back. Your '69 probably used 2" pipe.

1969 318 has the good 230 horsepower engine. 9.2:1 compression ratio.

Adapt on a 4 barrel carb (Edelbrock 1406 600 cfm with electric choke) it will wake up that stock engine with the stock cam snd give it the fuel it needs to run.

Will easily do more than 65 mph.

I would check out LMC Truck, Dixie Exhaust Works and Waldron Exhaust. No experience with any but those are what I found when looking for an A100 exhaust.

That is super helpful...That's what I will have the muffler shop do then. what kind of muffler do you recommend to make it close to original. The parts for these trucks no longer exist.

Walker FX-Sound oblong muffler. But they are just a tin can in and out.

These mufflers at Rock Auto supposed to be original sound, who knows???

They are the correct shape for the D100 pickups.

Found this one for an '89, other years were not available.

Ok, that looks pretty darn close if I remember the 64 I had when I was a teenager...I just kind of want to get the proper routing and noise...

I installed a bone stock 73 lo-compression 318 into my son's 84, with an A904 that I built, with a 2800 convertor, 3.55s , and a ThermoQuad 4-bbl.
She had an oil-burning 360/727 that is now taking up space in my garage.
That 84 went from being an Azz-draging pos pick-up, to hot rod in two days. Fresh 318 for the win!

Nice! Sounds pretty cool. Im not that handy. Just trying to restore a truck that I drove in high school. My grandfather would buy these trucks new on our ranch in Montana for field trucks. Any diagram of the original routing for the exhaust would be much appreciated.
