1968 Dodge Dart GT Sleeping Beauty?

Have you tried mineral spirits before? I was reading manual and it says spirits only. I wonder why? I think they might be relating to the lock strip install part as mine is `67.

We took this to a car get together this Saturday morning. About 10 cars. I guess it was too cold and March. Cars and Coffee is next week, but I am hearing it is now only attracting cars that are Rice Rockets, Jeeps, Mustangs or SRT’s. Where are all the 1960-1980 cars? The 426 ran perfect. A little cold natured.

That is a beautiful Charger you have.
It is a friend’s. It would take a new thread to go over the 50 plus incredible cars. Hemi Cuda, Hemi Charger, Hemi Superbird, Hemi Daytona all numbers matching 4 speeds. New ones Demon and a 170. A12’s, 440-6’s, 340-6, 340 Paxton GSS Demon see what I mean. Add in other makes.

Look at my posts 28-38 to see some pictures.

Sat the new headlight surrounds in place. Nothing like new jewelry! Off to Tony’s muffler shop first thing in the AM. Appointment set for 4 wheel alignment on the 18th.
Hagerty Quote set for insurance. I am sure we will have to adjust the kick down linkage.

1987 Registration Sticker is back on the Dart. It sat in a garage for 38 years in NJ. For a 58 year old car it deserves its New Jersey heritage to be on display. I will get Virginia vintage tags and just keep them in the car in case I get stopped.

It really is too bad that we can not use any plate from any state as long as it is clean/clear we would still pay registration to the state we are in. It's all computerized so what would be the big issue.

I have my dad's original issue CA plates my car has had since it was first registered, I would love to run them.

Shop does all the alignments for a friends restoration shop and the mega off-road shop in town. $135 and I should have paid more. He would have suggested smaller front tires. He drove it and was pleased with the ride.

Picked up the hood from the painter. No way I could’ve installed it by myself. I took it off by myself, which was also a mistake. It has dust from being in storage. Need front hood trim installed.
Nice to have all the panels on the car for the first time.

71 today. I have been waiting to get the temperature up and heat the glass. I used CRL and a power caulk gun. I was able to cut a small nozzle. If it was a manual gun, I would be worn out and it would be much messier. I will let it skim dry and then remove the tape. It remains pliable. Then the SS trim will go on.

Hood to Cowl Gasket.
Hard to see but you have to push the clips into the rubber and then bend the clips over. I added 3M weather strip/gasket sealant to secure them better.
IMG_6126.jpeg

Template. I sliced the old gasket to locate.

Clip without 3M sealant.

I used the old hood to cowl seal to locate the new clips.

Front and rear SS windshield trim. Hours to clean and polish. Minutes to install.

Still have to clean up. Minimal sealant spread. Glad that is over.

those front tires look big had to go down one size on mine would catch the front lower corner of the fender
