Looking for a choke cup for sale for the manifolds with a hole in them. i keep slapping steel plates on to temporarily fix the leak because its too nice out to not drive my ugly little car.
message me if you have one youd part with. thanks

I've seen them pop up on eBay, weird because it's something I have never looked for, I've never had a /6 of the years that had that style of a choke.

Make another steel plate—a sturdy one, thick enough not to bend, and a good sealing gasket for it. Put one of the electric choke kits on top of it. Problem permanently solved, and a choke that works better than the factory setup.

The choke cups that one finds available any more for the '70-'72 cars are almost always V8 cups, not the same as the Slant-6 cups.

So are you saying there are some slant 6 manifolds with the choke stove open to the exhaust? I've never seen one of those. I have probably 8 or 9 exhaust manifolds, too.

yeah, same size choke mount but theres a open hole, i cant see why they would need that if theres a cup manufactured to go over the hole

im in my shop class here in a hour, i used jb weld red hi-temp gasket maker and that thinner steel with washers, you recommend a different gasket? im going to see my steel options but im new to problem solving haha

RTV silicone like this is not suitable for sealing exhaust junctions like this; it'll quickly fry, smoke, stink, and blow out. You'll need to get a sheet of appropriate high-temperature gasket material (this kind) and cut/drill it to make a gasket.

Yes, all '70-'72 engines used this setup. A stainless steel cup fits in the open hole. The idea was to heat up the choke faster than could be done with the thicker cast-iron wall of the previous choke well cast into the exhaust. The '73 up exhaust manifolds went back to a cast well, but with a (crummy) "electric assist" setup which was a small heating element next to the (nonadjustable) choke coil to heat it up and kick it off. The electric choke kit I linked earlier is a real (and adjustable) electric choke.

Thanks Dan! I've never seen one. That certainly means nothing. LOL
