What modifications have to be done to the passenger side fenderwell to get a Hemi to fit with headers?Anything to the driver side?I don't want to cut the fenderwells for headers. Thanks :D

Ok to get you the right awncer we need to know a few details, 1 what kind of A-body year, and model, 2 what kind of HEMI are we talking 426/528 or 5.7 or 6.1 Hemis?

It's a 1967 Barracuda fastback.I'm thinking about putting a 426/528 engine in it.

The passenger inner fender mods aren't required in all cases, the shock tower was flattened to allow you to remove the valve cover, header's will be OK.

-The originals had a 7/8 spacer under the K frame for carb to scoop clearance.

- If you raise the engine 1" you won't have to clearance the inner fender at all. Most guys do this.

- If your like me and have a MP crossram (taller), regular 4160 Carbs (instead of the "correct" high dollar carbs) and wanting to run air cleaners (street car) you WILL have a fun time. I had to cut the inner fender, LOWER the motor, remake the headers(due to the lowered motor) and modify a repro scoop to get it all done. I have had the engine, headers, K-frame, steering linkage, etc. out over 30 times. No BS.

I keep tellin" myself it will be worth it when it's done.....

I have pics of a original Hemi dart with the crude factory inner fender mods, I tried to attach it but its too big (22kb).

I'm going to move this to the archives. Its still open for discussion though.

:hello2:

Thanks Adam! . That inner fender shot was the same one I was going to post, it's pretty crude to say the least! They are from a dude on Moparts that has a original Hemi Dart,, otherwise I would have swore that modification was done by a backyard hack.

I have some pics that I took a little while back, but it is still a project in pieces at this point. It isn't a original car. I would be glad to answer any question though and I promise to post some pics in the future. I am trying to get it done by September but I do EVERYTHING myself so progress is SLOW!

ssaa I have a large collection of Hemi Barracuda/Dart pictures. If you ever need anything Let me know I may have a picture of it. I f I find one on the net I save it.

I didnt need to see anything in particular, just love to see pictures of them.

It would probably bolt in Ok but I bet you would have to have headers made to clear the mounts.

I used a K-frame from Hemispherical Products that was just redone by welding on the Hemi mounts, it has 1/4" spacers on it, as far as the pass side inner fender I cut out a piece almost to the shock stud, rewelded in a new piece that was flatter. But because I was going to put this motor in a B-body the Indy heads I used have a 1/2" taller valve cover rail I lost some clearance, I got about a 1/4" now, good thing I have solid mounts. Not bad hood clearance, Indy single plane, King Demon, 16x3 1/2 air cleaner with ss/aa hood, header clearance SUCKS! Hooker super comps do not fit without adjustments. I have some pictures if I can find out where my wife moved them.

I am building a 69 Dart GTS and have a 5.7 Hemi police interceptor that I want to put into it. Just want to know if anyone has ever done this and if so what kind of problems that I may run into? The Dart will look factory until you look under the hood.

I've owned a hemi E body and two hemi B bodies but never even worked on a hemi A body. I always wanted to build one and was wondering if exhaust manifolds could work instead of headers ?

I hope you are not using this B block for mock up and then installing a RB things will be an inch taller with a 440 RB or Hemi block. The pic,s shown here are with a 383 B block.

click onto the last thread below, ....it can be done without ANY sheetmetal mods.....if you have the desire
