I ordered a pair of 15 x 8 wheels so I can get bigger stickier tires out back.
With 245x60x14 BFG's my 60's are usually 2.0 or worse. I can squeeze 275x50x15's in there. I am keeping my 14 inch wheels and tires for cruising. I have SS springs and a pair of kicker shocks mounted parallel to the ground that should help it hook. Summit lists four makes in that size: MT's, BFG, Hoosier and Nittos, any suggestions? I'm hoping for more consistent launches.
I have run mid 13's at 104, but I am losing a lot of time getting started.

Is your car an auto or stick? I've read that sticky radials don't work with sticks. I have no personal experience. It's just what I have read.

Wylde1.

It has the Tremec TKO, (3.27:1 first) and a 3.55 rear. It is a heavy, 3540 pound drop top.

I have run BFG. MT. Drag radials and they both work great and are streetable. You don't have to do big smokey burnouts to make them work either.I have run Hooiser's Quick time pro DOT and they work the best but I wouldn't use them as street tires even though you can.I went Old School with a B-Body and a stick, used Lakewood traction bars and bent them with the Hoosier's. More than anything is how the track is prepped for good bite.

I had zero luck with the bfgs, blew them off everytime at the starting line, ran the same size in a mickey and went from a best 60 ft. of 1.97 to a 1.68 in a 3800 lb. car with alot of torque and stock suspension.

i've heard nothing but good about the MT's, everyone who uses them around here swears by them, that's what i plan on putting on my car as well

If you are keeping your 14s as your cruising tires just get some real slicks.

You don't need a huge tire to run 13s or even 12s for that matter.

I have ran a 13.2 @ 105 on my E70-14s ……….. just under 26" tall and 6" wide tread.

OK, I'm going with the MT's. Now I have to wait till April to make a pass with them.

I just bought a pair of these for the street. They HOOK AWSOME on my buddys Dart with a 4spd...........Bias Ply's!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with Wylde1......

I was talking to Crackedback about this and I believe he is correct after seeing it with my own eyes!!

Mounting them on 14x7 with 4.25 Back Spacing

HOT AND STICKY COMPOUND.........................

those were the hot tip in the days before drag radials were introduced. I'll give another vote for the M/T's. Have em on my duster and very happy with them. We'll see how good they are when the new bullet goes in this spring.

those look like a nice tire mad dart, how are they on the street?

My Buddy's HOT 340 gets them to hook. At a roll in 1st gear they wont break loose at all when you bang thru the gears!!!

If you rev dump it, light squeel and hang on!!! Awsome street tire! He only has SS springs and a pinion snubber. I am using Caltracs..........hopefully it will HOOK.

I am hoping that with the 410 Stroker it will hook better. It is like driving on ICE SKATES with the Radials.

bfg drag radials suck!!..i had them on my duster and would spin half way down the track can you say USELESS!!..now the m/t drag radials work great my car 60' in the low 1.40's yanking the wheels with my 416 or 1.60's with my 360 still yanking the wheel, best drag tire i ever used i don't run them on the street because they're so sticky they pick up everything i have street tires for cruising/shows.. which reminds me i need another pair down pass the cords on the m/t's..

I have a set of mt street radials and I love em... its a mild 44 build on my dart w/391 and posi and all the good stuff and with street tires It will do a 40mph rolling burnout but w/my mt on the street or at the track it wont even chirp the tires....and they have held up great on the street and at the track.. I keep them on everywere I go and rain didnt seem to phase drivability either. never tried bfg's but i know mt is a good tire.

Hey Vance, Before you get the tires, Make sure the rims you ordered are going to be wide enough. If you put the 50s on 8" rims, you might pinch the sidewall too much and they wont work as well as you are hoping for. My 255/60s were on the 7" Ansen slots, and I dont think they were working as well as possible. I think that was too narrow. I picked up some 8" Centerline lookalikes and hopefully that will work better.

I run a 275/60/15 B.F.G. drag radial on a 8 " steel wheel. i was not impressed with them at first. after i got them broke in and dropped air on them they hook hard. have torn alot of **** up with them. Broke axle, broke driveshaft, broke pinion gear, broke adjustable pinion snubbers. I take them down to 12-13.5 lbs. of air. the best 60 ft. i ever got was with a set of McCrearey's 275/60/15 they were d.o.t dirt track compound tires for the roundy round guys used, but I don't think there availible anymore.

Here are the tires I was telling you guys about mounted and mocked up.
255/60/14 on 7" Wheel with 4.25 Back Spacing. I have about 5/8" to the leaf springs and 3/4" to the lip on the inside of the wheel well. The wheel well lip is stock nothing cut up at all. Springs are in stock location. This puts 9" of Tire on the ground. I really do believe you could use a 8" wide wheel if the back spacing was 4.50.......JMO and I wonder if someone has done it on a 70 Dart.
