I don't want to sound like a know it all but this is not correct, all the original direct connection pieces had the divots for the screws/bolts. the one you posted a picture of is a dc spoiler but it's the one on the dustAAR, and in the article about that car they said they filled in all the holes and divots to make it smooth and mounted it from underneath the deck lid.
