70 dart 470 ci drag car build.

I got the transmission disassembly done. Looks like the thing was rebuilt and never ran. I talked to RJ @71Demon528 & he was very helpful. Also some texts with Chris. You guys on fabo really are helpful. Tomorrow I'll install my bolt in sprag and start assembly

Yes 1/16" are falling into the obsolete bin. 1.2mm, 0.043", 1mm are fairly common. Lake Speed was talking about 0.9mm rings. All depends on piston availabilty and budget. I expect Dan will be on a fairly tight budget. His asking questions here is good as he can bounce ideas around to find out...

273 commando cylinder head bolt torque specs ? same as 340 ?

It is my understanding that the drag that a dry bolt thread provides is calculated I to the torque spec. The luse allows the bolt to spin easier and now the same amount of torque is over tightening the bolt Somewhere I recall seeing lubed spec at 50 (just a number) and dry is 75 ( just a number)

[WANTED] ISO Rear Quarter Panel and Trim

Holy crap!! 1700 CDN? Check with Summit. They sell TS rings under the Summit brand and I can’t say for sure but I’d be surprised if you can’t find that ring for half of that money. The biggest reason 5/64 rings are still used is the “market” thinks a thick ring seals better (it doesn’t...

Depends, and that is not the ones DJT gets at Walmart. Look around at say Summit for pistons with the top design and compression height in the bore size you need. 1/16" are fairly common if you look.

Finding the appropriate pistons and rings for the intended use and budget is where the bannana peel hits the sidewalk. Sometimes availability trips us up and usually the budget whacks us upside the head.

    360 vs 383

    I've had what I considered a bada$$ed 383, and I've had what I'd call a bada$$ed 360 that literally made a 454 look like an idiot. I love'm both , passionately and can not make a selection between the 2.

Edelbrock red fuel pump shutting off

Man, I wish I had read this before. I just went through two of these pumps trying to run my lawn tractor. The 20yr old facet pump that replaced the original vacuum pulse pump finally died (still makes noise, check valve intermittently fails to hold pressure). Both of these 17303 pumps simply...

Well, IMHO you both have points. The 5/64" ring sets have been in use for decades now and are well proven. If they work for you and you are happy with using them, have at it and carry on. Modern technology and materials has enabled the ring widths to be reduced for lower friction in the engine...

Gettin a few touch ups done on the inner fender wells. A few weeks before I took this picture this fella told me he had re-tapped a couple of nuts for me. I was busy talking to the owner about some things I wanted done and just nodded and thanked him. After they painted the inner fender wells I...

    Small Upper ball joint adaptors

What I have seen of others that have done this is that some ball joint studs are really to short while others may have enough threads to get the nut on all the way with a thread or 2 sticking out under the nut while others don’t have enough threads. Kim

Inner fender wells and radiator core support are in place. Frame rail was repaired where the previous owner had hit a telephone pole and ripped the frame. I didn’t notice until years later that the passenger side inner fender well was a 1/4 inch farther forward. Fortunately everything was able...
