    Ailing engine (Updated after teardown)

Jack, I think that's not a bad idea, BUT I tell you what. I'll be danged if I'd put it back together without studding it. You have it apart. Now's the time. The extra clamping force might make the difference. It's a small cash outlay for the benefits. Just a thought.

    Stock Market

I don't care how "good" the market is now. There's no way in hades I'd put anything in the market as volatile as it is. I think the safest place for money now is in a gunsafe.

How to Remove Molding Trim on '64 Valiant 2 Dr. ??

Welcome aboard! I have a 64 2 door seedan as well. But mine is a base model with no trim. Maybe if you could be more specific as to which trim you're removing? Different trim uses different clips.

    340 piston

Just asking, but why the wide ring pack? You can unlock a little power and have less friction with a more modern thin ring pack. Run cooler, too.

2017 ram 2500 broken manifold bolts

It goes all the way back to the slant 6 and possibly prior. They have special washers that basically act like a "spring" and allow the manifold some "wiggle room" if you will for expansion with heat. What they should have done was put studs and nuts on instead of bolts.

    408 ignition curver advice

My Ford 400 is sitting at 44* at idle. Vixen's slant 6 is close to the same. I forget exactly where it is. They both improved noticeably when I made the change.

    408 ignition curver advice

I'm sure you'll get it optimized. You're open to trying different things and that's good. You should find my thread regarding using manifold vacuum on the vacuum advance can. If you are running a vacuum advance, it might be worth experimenting around with.

Put up a wanted ad in the classifieds detailing exactly what you're looking for. I'm sure someone here has it. The moderators frown upon trying to turn regular threads into wanted and for sale threads. It's only allowed in the classified section.

    Turning torque for engine

I'd be happy to look at it. I'm pretty confident I could find the issue. You've been on my property before and you know how secluded it is so no one would mess with it. My only problem is, although I do have a shop, I don't have room for the car inside.

Builders: Square engine, Over Square, or Under Square for you?

A street engine. This is where people spend too much time with their noses in hot rod books and buying all the forum gurus BS. A short rod is good for high piston speed and it makes the engine pull more vacuum at low RPM. Generally speaking, that's what you want in a street engine. This is...
