    fender tag Decoding Values

Wow! Such quick and helpful replies! Thanks Much to Dana67Dart for decoding and providing references. I'm thinking of restoring the car sans the drive train. I was curious to see if it was factory air. When I got the car 20 years ago it had an old and very tired 50's Hemi with AC. Since I've...

I like the muscle, but who's got a custom?

My wife's current A is the '63 GT in the avatar. The goal is a super 60s mild custom. Drawer pull grill, chrome tube floating bar bumper. She's even open to a lace-painted roof. So where are everyone else's mild custom A bodies? Is there already a thread for it?

Don't read if you're close minded

Related carb flow reading- Carb flow testing - Don Terrill’s Speed-Talk I haven’t flowed a 4500 carb in quite a while, but as I recall, using the same procedure as the thread above, a “1050” 4500 was pretty close to that. A typical 4150 style “1050” under the same criteria would be a little...

SM Head Modifications on a budget

2.08...the tube pulls air to that side of the bowl. If you want it there. I really don't think much of my advice will work with your valve job. But I do think laying back the chamber wall should get you some but maybe not until you move the ST belly back some and blend the VJ on that side.

A few of my Drag Cars

They are all 1/18 diecast. Commissioned by Supercar Collectibles and made by Highway 61 10-15 years ago. Acme is making new ones using the same molds. Some are commissioned by Scott Dahlberg, formerly of Supercars, under his own Atomic Kar Krafters moniker. He's done the Rod Shop 71 Challenger...

    15 inch 4 " (SBP) steel wheels ?

it adds 1" per side. so if you're currently running typical old mopar offset (+1/4"), to keep the tire in the same place, you need to run around +1.25" offset. '94-04 mustangs are +30mm offset (1.18")...if you like the 17" look, Nitto 255/50R17's on mustang rims would work great....without...

SM Head Modifications on a budget

The guy who gave me some guidance when I was first getting started was a big proponent of going after the SSR, so that was instilled in me early on. I remember telling him how Mopar warned against touching the SSR. He had already ported a few sets of BBM factory heads that worked pretty well...

    65 Barracuda daily driver

So the timing chain is in. I ruined the timing cover gasket because coolant kept pouring out of the one of the driver side bolt holes in the block. It appeared to have stopped. I tired to jack the front up, but that didn't help. I tried to get the block drain plug out, but I couldn't. It's hard...

Spark plugs covered in oil - how screwed am I?

How Much oil do you use per 1000 miles? Blue smoke on startup? Pull valve cover and look at your valve seals. V8’s have neoprene umbrellas, not sure about/6’s. They get old they harden and bust up to pieces from heat cycling. Compression test will tell you if you have a real problem, followed...

    Tremec TKX conversion in A-body!

Was the crossmember part number BHS578 included with the kit? Or did you purchase it separate? I like how it has a loop that goes over the top to reinforce everything since the original loop is cut out to fit the 5 speed. I like silver sports customer service and they have directions for A body...

Pretty much the approach hughes took on there "bigmouth" porting on the edelbrock head. Just murdered the short turn, looks like there approach was "volume at any cost."

    Mild 383 build

You’re going to have to cough up some details about the intended use and car(gears, converter, exhaust, type of car, etc). The engine isn’t a standalone piece. A plow truck doesn’t get the same recipe as a dragster.

Don't read if you're close minded

Best I have been able to come up with is the ratings such as 650, 700, 750 etc are mostly approximations for purposes marketing and sales. As I recall looking at the 4776+ series and compare with their vacuum secondary counterparts and find the same bore, venturi, booster and find them rated 50...
