    Hurricane Helene

One daughter in Gulfport, Fl. lost her real estate office right on Tampa Bay from the surge. Her house survived about a 1/2 mile inland, so thankful for that.

    340 or 408?

Since we're ''off the rails'' and not many 500 plus streetable 340 builds around, why not just copy and paste one of these to a SBM.....:) https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/0811chp-327-small-block-chevy-engine-build/

    340 or 408?

''I'd look at 11/1 compression , I'd port my current eddy heads and Victor intake and obviously go Roller cam with more lift and duration'' This.....on the 340. Nuff said.

    .480/230 cam in an 8.5 CR 360?

I doubt the OP is looking for a street killer with his 65'. His original setup with a little bit of cam advance, and a good tune will make a nice street cruiser that sounds good. And probably run some 14's if he really feels the need to lean on it. Yep, i'm one of the old guys that have made...

    .480/230 cam in an 8.5 CR 360?

It's a young rebuild so why did you tear it down... Advance the cam, throw as much initial timing that it will take, a duel plane int. would be a must and the shortest tires that still look decent. At least it will drivable and sure sound good. :)

    440 Cam selection help

If your going hyd. and want to stay with stock rockers, and your willing to put in the time considering the variance of the factory valvetrain, you can get your lifters done then match a lifter/rocker to each valve and measure them all for pushrod length then order the proper individual sizes...

    440 Cam selection help

With shelf cam availability the way it is today, i'd just order the Oregon grind and use some good lifters. With using stock rockers and single springs, that should fit your application just fine.

    Crane cam information

    50 year flashback.....70' Duster's/Dart's 340 4spd, 4.56's, single plane, 750cfm. Screemin' around the drive-thru. :) Those were the days.

I'll take a stab at it... I see a electric choke. Maybe it's way out of adjustment.

    741 open case v 7 1/4 LSD

The 7.25 sure grip axles were pretty strong for the intended purpose. With that said, anything over 300 pounds of tq with traction will eventually cause issues.

    Power Valve Selection

My simple response is, put a 6.5 in and forget it. As far as the slight bog, that could be another issue. You may be able to run a little more initial timing and that would help your overall performance. While the stock primary jet sounds small, Some models of Holleys were built that way. Why...

    273 adjustable rockers to stamped.

As long as those rockers are in good shape, keep what you have. I prefer a light preload...something in the .020/.040 range. Once set, you'll have many miles of trouble free driving.

318LA/906 SBE build it OR go Big block?

How long since it last ran. Forget the 440 for now. Try and get what you have running to see where your at. Trans and brake operation, the entire fuel system, electronics, etc. You may find your ''budget'' wont go as far as you think. JMO

    Trimming piston skirts

In my opinion, weight matching will be more important then the slightly longer skirt.

    Barn Find!!!! Well not really......

The sky is the limit depending on budget. It's a great car for resto no matter how far you want to take it. Guessing it has a 7.25 rear being a 70' 318 car.

    Stock .318 upgrade!

Don't beat urself up on that. That's a beauiful vert. Not worried about big power, no problem. :)

    Building my first 440

If new piston's are involved, you need to figure the deck height/volume to see where your chamber volume needs to be. While most alum. heads have a advantage, nothing wrong with the iron as long as a mild build with reasonable compression will meets your goals

14 x 5.5 tire choice same size all around

The 205's should mimic the F's up front. Swap the front's to the back to make sure you'd be happy with the ''small's'' back there. Sure look good as it sits. :)

    Stock .318 upgrade!

No...Imo, if that carb is in good shape, that's a great price. Keep in mind, the stock 318 cam is all done at 5k, so it would be a fine upgrade for what you have now.
