    Mystery Rattle Noise

And the winner is...... loose oil slinger the noise is gone and I went ahead and flushed the radiator and block while I was at it, adjusted the valves, fine tuned the idle screws, and adjusted the timing. Took it for a short ride and it seems to be running well! Thanks for everyone's help!

    Mystery Rattle Noise

Pulled fuel pump and checked spring and arm. Spring was intact and tight and the arm and cam had nothing more than normal wear. Timing set was all in good shape with nothing loose and no signs of rubbing on the cover. But once I had the cover off I tapped the oil slinger on the crank with a...

    Mystery Rattle Noise

I checked the pulleys on the front of the engine and everything is tight. I even ran it with the belt off and it still made the noise. Checked the flex bolts two I couldn't get any tighter, the other two I was able to tighten a slight bit but the sound still persists and hasn't changed.

    Slant Six Roadster Build

it's 1710 lbs with about 4 gallons of gas in it. I paid $5000 for it and it was tagged and drive able but I made a lot of improvements and corrected a lot of mistakes the previous owner made. Had I had a better eye for things at the time of buying I would have offered even less but it was nice...

    Slant Six Roadster Build

So I finished the cockpit cover a while back and really love how it turned out! I ended up waxing it to help make it more rigid and give it some water resistance. Had fun in April at South Mountain Raceway and made it through 3 rounds before losing to my friend who also drives a Slant powered...

    Slant Six Roadster Build

It's been a lot of fun that's for sure! This winter i'm going to try putting in a simple roll bar behind the body so I can run my car up at Loring to see what it will do. I will also be able to add shoulder belts as well.

    Slant Six Roadster Build

As for my track bucket I sent the steering box to Clark's Corvair Parts to have it rebuilt and they did a great job. I knew I didn't have the tools to do the job right but had other tools I would have used and screwed it up haha. They even media blasted the box and it looks great. I ended up...

    Slant Six Roadster Build

Haven't made any updates in a while. Have been busy racing and crewing so still having fun. In July I raced a lakester powered by a mostly stock pinto motor at the Loring Timing Association in Maine. It's land speed racing where you are timed at a mile and 1.5 mile. We race on an old retired air...

    Widening exhaust outlet

I had a stone bit and was able to open it up to a little over 2". The opening now matches the gasket I have. I was able to do this while it was on the engine and in the car since my slant is in a open body roadster. I will try to take it out some more next time I have the exhaust off.

    Widening exhaust outlet

I was planning on opening up the exhaust outlet on my stock manifold to help it breath a little better. What tool would probably work the best? I was thinking about a burr but in a drill or impact driver. Has anyone else used something else with decent success?

Here are some photos on of the shocks and the way she stands today. Test drove the car today and the shocks worked great. I still need to take the shocks apart and paint them. I ended up making the discs out of a sheet of slippery UHMW Polyethylene from McMaster-Carr. I read up on sooo many...
