67 Barracuda Fastback Rear Panel Question

Daves69: I believe he is talking about the side panel, not the trunk divider panel. Noisydart: They are a variety of holes. The small ones take sheet metal screws that secure the side panel. The larger ones are passthroughs for the clips that secure the trim strip.

    7 1/4" to 8 3/4" rear end swap advice

What he said. The dolly doesn't help you lift it, so is pointless. Just make sure the rear has the same u-joint size as the driveshaft. You might need an adapter u-joint. And you can have a driveline shop cut down your driveshaft to length, if necessary. Does your Dart have disc brakes...

    How Many 64 Barracudas

The "attrition rate" is not some kind of absolute, general value — it is derived by comparing the number produced with the number surviving. Without the data point of "number surviving", it cannot be calculated. It might be different for different models of car, in different eras, or different...

    How Many 64 Barracudas

There is no way to answer this type of question. The information is not available. Every state has a separate registration database, and they are not generally publicly searchable. So where would you get the data?

What Tire sizes are best for my 1969 Barracuda Fastback?

215/70-14 is the largest size that will fit all around on the 14" rally wheels. The rally wheels are only 5.5" wide, and 225/70 will hit the fender when turning. Barracudas are much tighter in the wheel well than Darts, with more tuck-under in the body side profile.

273 Cracked Intake manifold with a belly of "Charcoal"!

I can tell you from experience that if you try to mount the "new angle" 4bbl intake on a set of early heads, you will get burned oil gunk on the valves and all kinds of crap in the valley — it will leak on both sides.

[Found!] 67 Barracuda Rear Seat Hinge Covers

I don't recall any spacers. I had the seat out about a year ago. The covers are very odd-shaped objects, difficult to describe.

FYI the passenger front is exactly the same. They interchange corner to corner.

    Seat height question

I would think so. When I swapped out very worn buckets for a new restored bench, I gained 3-4 inches in height (this was not a good thing — my hair touched the headliner). A lot of it depends on the condition of the foam & springs — you don't realize how much they sag over 50 years.

    [WANTED] disc brake set up

When I converted a slant six Barracuda to K-H discs in 2016, I could buy new Cardone calipers at O'Reillys, and new rotors from PowerStop.

    1967 Dart Bucket Seat Question

I don't recall any tilt adjustment in the bucket seat base on a 67 Barracuda or a 67 Dart (I've had both — my current Barracuda has a bench). I do know that dealers would install wood spacers under the tracks at the customer's request — I had a set of those in a 1967 Barracuda convertible.

    [WANTED] disc brake set up

Factory disc brakes for a 71 Scamp would be the Kelsey-Hays 4-piston calipers with 11-in. discs. All the parts should be available new from the parts store, eBay, or a specialty vendor like Inline Tubes — other than the spindles/hubs and the caliper hose bracket. Complete set-ups are for sale in...

    67 Barracuda Badges

Oh boy.... there are a LOT of them. Let's start with the fender pics. Left front fender - in front of wheel: Barracuda script + lefthand fish - behind wheel, lower: circular Formula S badge (if present; 383 will have engine callout numbers as well), otherwise small rectangular badge ("COMMANDO...

    Disconnect sway bar question

Proper procedure for setting ride height includes completely undoing ONE end link. If you don't release a sway bar end, the sway bar will fight your adjustments — when you crank the adjuster on one side it will try to keep the car level, so you can't really measure the change. It's exactly what...

Headers for 1966 Barracuda 273 Commando formula S

Yeah, I'm not sure you have a lot of options. I don't think TTI makes any for narrow bodies. I don't know if Doug's or Hooker even make them, and most people wind up hating those by the time they smash them up enough to fit, even on a 67-69. I know the Spitfire tri-Y headers fit, but those are...

The topless adventures of Cuda Al

Nice photos of the house... they really show off your work. I thought I put new front brake lines in when I swapped to disc brakes... maybe I only did one side? I do have a new line for the short side in storage.

Factory heavy-duty suspension on 66 dart

Yeah, the rear axle is a completely separate option item. The HD rear springs had a different number of leaves in different years (they used thicker leaves to get the same spring rate), so it may not be a definitive clue if you have less than 6. But 6 is going to be HD for sure.

    Adding timing chain tensioner

On the subject of 273s, a Commando is about the free-est revving V8 you can find... you definitely want a good chain. I used a Cloyes HD double roller.

[Found!] WTB- 1967 Barracuda 273 Commando dual point distributor

What type of exhaust does your 273 have??? show some photos!!!

What are you driving? If you have a 67 Barracuda, you'll have a hell of a time getting a second pipe over the axle any larger than 2 inches. My exhaust guy thought he could run 2.5", but it bangs against the spring when cornering, and has zero clearance on the tank side. When they say the...

14 x 5.5 tire choice same size all around

215/70-14 fits fine on Barracudas. It’s 225 that hits the front corner, and they are too wide for 5.5 wheels, anyway.

    Front brake line 68 Barracuda

Technically, that is not the proportioning valve you are talking about — it is properly called the metering block or the safety switch. But anyway, the brake line should not have a junction in it, and I don't recall it having a loop in it, either. Somebody did a sloppy replacement.

Question Re: Barracuda ('68) Rear Folding Seat

One thing that can happen is that cams can come loose from the rod and the rod shifts in the end-to-end direction, causing the other cam to jam. I had this issue. I pulled the seatback for access, then recentered and tightened everything. When bolting the seatback back down, there is a lot of...

Can anyone help decode Mopar distributor numbers?

What Mike says. Which leads me to believe that the better solution would be to use either a programmable aftermarket distributor, or a factory 340 points distributor, because that way you could actually get the advance curve correct.

    Fuel level sender

The aftermarket sender I bought was completely off, and irremediably so. The entire configuration of the unit was wrong. Compare the two in the photo. The aftermarket unit... 1. the pickup tube length, shape and orientation was completely different... 2. the pivot point for the float arm was...
