Has anyone with a torsion bar eliminated suspension (HDK etc) cut out the torsion bar opening housings, reinforced the frame crossmember with a three inch tube to run exhaust through it? Pros…cons? Just kind of occurred to me. More clearance.

I figure even at 300, narrowing and complete rebuild there has to be better out there. The 489 casting isnt going to change that cost much. Still have fingers crossed for an A body 8 3/4” I have lots to do before the rear end is essential. Total rebuild cost could drive me to the new 9”.
