    64 valiant gauge problems

No fuel + no temp = bad cluster limiter. On the back of the gauge cluster there is a little metal can roughly the size of a Chiclet that plugs into a socket on the board. This little gem regulates the current through the gauges and when it goes bad the fuel and temp gauges no worky. You can...

Welcome to the wonderful world of early A's. These cars were designed for 6 cylinder engines only and when you put in a V8 there are obstacles to deal with. You have 4 options for your dilemma. You can run stock V8 single exhaust, run the passenger side exhaust under the existing crossmember...

So did the Plymouth Valiant name come from a french cartoon character?

When the Valiant was introduced in 1960 it was sold as a stand alone brand. Back then compact cars were the kiss of death and I suppose Chrysler didn't want the other divisions to get a black mark in the public eye if it wasn't a success, especially after the Edsel debacle in '58. Fortunately...

66 valiant with 360 help needed.

Quick and dirty, get the manifolds when you pull the engine out of the Durango. Those are supposed to fit with the interference coming between the outlet flange and the steering coupler. Try 'em and see, they're already on the engine. Besides, you can answer a question for all of us. :glasses7:

66 valiant with 360 help needed.

Have the manifold in my hand but no way to take a pic of it. :banghead: The casting number is 2465847. The main difference between the early manifolds and the '67 on is the outlet. The '67 on outlet points down after wrapping around the steering box while the older ones have a 90 and point to...

66 valiant with 360 help needed.

'64-'66 273 exhaust manifolds bolt right up. The only header options are Hooker fenderwells, Doug's chassis exit, or TTI chassis exit. If you want a set of those prepare to say goodbye to one of your nads. $$$$ Dakota/Durango manifolds will fit with enough grinding on the manifolds and/or...

    Early A with 360/power brakes

First off, there is zero difference in deck height between a 360 and a 273 and the valve covers are maybe 1/4" taller at most. What year brackets and linkage did you use? If they are not '66 or older they will not fit properly. The problem is that early A's were designed to accept a slant six...

    windshield washer pump???

The pump mounts on the inner fender on the driver's side just below the washer reservoir. The real deal is almost non existent so you may need to do what I did and mount a universal pump in its place. Run a short piece of hose from the outlet on the reservoir to the input of the pump. The outlet...

    1966 Disc Brake Conversion Questions

The big question is whether or not you want to keep your 5 on 4" bolt circle wheels. If you do, there are a couple of options. One option would be to find a '66 to '72 A body with front disc brakes and get the spindles, calipers, and rotors from it. These are getting scarce, parts are hard to...

    Gas pedal swap

You have a PM. Sending you a PM because this is way too long to post. The later pedals mount with 2 studs to the firewall. All you really need to do is remove what you have. There will be a large hole that the linkage passed through. Feed the new cable through this hole and hold the pedal...

    65 valiant pedal linkage clip

40 years from now there will be a raging debate on a Mopar forum over whether the factory used Heim joints or some lame clip lash up. Good job!!! That's the sort of thing that separates Chivvy guys from REAL men. =D>

    65 valiant pedal linkage clip

Try your local parts store. They have all sorts of weird stuff in the Help! section. You could also try a hobby shop. RC airplanes use all sorts of ball stud connections and they might have one that will work. If none of that works, PM memike. He has one that he took off Victoria when he...

BBP disc conversion on an early A

Did this on a '66 Valiant but used a '75 Duster donor. With that said, I would get the spindles, caliper brackets, rotors, and calipers off the M body. Also get the prop valve. Used new '73-'76 A body lower ball joints and upper control arms with new ball joints. It all bolted right up and used...

    74 to 65 Drivetrain Swap!

You can use most of what you have now for the swap (exhaust manifolds, driveshaft, etc.). The only "special" parts you will need is a driver's side motor mount bracket (the ears on a 340 block are different from the 318) and possibly a radiator with a thicker core for more cooling capacity...

    early a lower ball joints.

You could do like I did and cheat. One of the reasons I put '73-'76 discs on my '66 Valiant was 20 bucks versus 100 for lower ball joints. Stops a lot better too.

Just bought this what do you think ?

Let's put it in perspective. Think of your Dart as a '32 Ford Roadster in 1979. Would you rather have the '32 with a nice V8, synchromesh transmission, and modern suspension or would you rather have a stocker? That's what has been done to your Dart. It is an excellent car that will get plenty of...

Spindles and brakes - AGAIN w a difference

MOOG lists the same lower ball joints for a '69 Charger with drums and a '73 Dart with discs if that helps. It should be a bolt and go with what you have. If you want to do a Scarebird disc conversion later on send me a PM and I can save you a few bucks.
