    Parts condition

I have a few questions about these parts: is there anything special about the gear on the right as the cutting of the dog teeth looks different compared to gear on the left. Which slider should I take for my build / for which synchro style are they? First one has an indent in the middle...

    Grooving lifter bores

Somebody who owns a Ford or Chevy should grab the tool on Amazon. Jegs made a mistake on the pricing: $1.69 instead of $217. Unfortunately it only comes with the Ford and Chevy lifter bore sizes. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001R9DQN6?tag=viglink22691-20

    4 speed ka-booom !

AJ, I disassembles my transmission yesterday and to my surprise there is a caged roller bearing in the input shaft instead of the individual rollers! Any idea where I could get another one?

    4 speed ka-booom !

Why would you want to keep it secret but tell people about it? The reason for a forum like this is to help other people. If you don't want to share your method that's fine but don't be childish like that.

    4 speed ka-booom !

Thanks for the explanation! So you cut the red part in the picture. This is the first time I hear about this mod. What does it actually do? As far as I know the synchro rings ride against this edge. The slider/sleeve is always in contact with the drum/hub so it wouldn't be effected by the...

    4 speed ka-booom !

How far do you taper them back? Do you have a picture of a modified hub? Just to be sure are you talking about the sides of the "teeth" or the front and rear flat area or the top (the arrows point at the corner so I'm not 100% sure)? what do you use for tapering and how do you get them...

Does the wear on these forks look acceptable for reuse?

What's the proper (virgin) thickness of the contact pads for a steel shift fork? I have two steel forks an both are worn - I would like to restore them using hard brazing.

    Aftermarket Flywheels

How can you tell that it's not billet? Selling a non billet flywheel as a billet flywheel would put them in big trouble if one of them explodes...big lawsuit... Google yielded a few results for the 1045 steel of the Source flywheel - as I understand the 1045 is always forged meaning that the...

    Better Shifting Mopars

The reason for the rebuild is that I'm doing a 4-speed swap from an automatic and the tranny is still on the bench (actually on the floor). Seller told me that he think it was rebuild but he is not sure as it came with a new overhaul kit when he bought it. I won't start the swap till fall so...

    Better Shifting Mopars

Thanks! Yeah, it's quite hard to get parts and you have to plan well ahead - no such thing as rushing down to the local auto parts store and get something you forgot to order ;) do you have a picture of the tool? are you talking about the synchronizers which I should zip tie together?

I'm going to rebuild my 833 in the next months. Do have any more useful hints and tricks for me? Maybe you should write a book about it :burnout:

[WANTED] 4-speed gear set (3.09 first)

Good info guys! I'll see if I can source a 64-65 tranny. I have a B-body A833 in my shop with the correct tailhousing that's why I just need the gears but yeah, a whole tranny might be easier to find.

[WANTED] 4-speed gear set (3.09 first)

Thanks for the offer but I want a non OD gear set. According to Allpar the gear set I'm looking for cam with 6 cyl engines (and a few small V8 ) : My low rear end ratio (3.23) should work well with a steep first gear - should be the same as a 2.66 first gear tranny with a 3.73 rear end...

[WANTED] 4-speed gear set (3.09 first)

I'm looking for a gear set for my 4-speed with a 3.09 first gear and 1:1 final drive. These gears came on 74-75 318 cars and on 6 cylinder cars I think. Thanks!

    Thermoquad help

You're right, the 9023S is not a truck carb but the 6322S was used on cars and trucks according to the vaanth guide (http://www.moparchat.com/forums/showthread.php?p=591862). Anyways, all of them have 1 1/2 primaries - 850cfm :)

    Thermoquad help

Thanks for your reply. Don't know the specs on the cam unfortunately as the previous owner didn't know either. It sounds like a MP 509 (very rough idle). I read that with large cams I should get a ligher step up spring or toss it completely if necessary. I'll inspect each carb for throttle...

    Thermoquad help

First off, let me introduce myself: I'm a 29 yo guy living in beautiful Austria. Heard many great stories about FABO so I decided to join the board. Maybe you guys could already help me out: I recently got a Holley Street Dominator intake and I decided to rebuild one of my thermoquads I have on...
