It would most likely have to be shortened and the spring perches would need to be relocated for sure. The housing can usually be done local. Worth about 200 give or take depending on if you reuse the ends. Axles go for 200 and up. Next time I buy axles I'm just going to call Moser and get it...
Look on the driver side of the float bowl. Should be number in a circle. These are the published flow rates.

^You're giving away a secret. In my experiance a D44 is plenty strong. Thank the 4x4 crowd. You have more options and parts availability than most other axles.
