What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

I like it, not sure i can get all of that, but i like how you think. We are discussing twin 72mm turbos

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

So, in this scenario, what displacement class did you want to drive? AA/BFALT?

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

I only mention it as it is what I have. Not sure the best way to lower the displacement, pull a plug wire off or what. Offset grinding a crank to use BBC rods is intriguing. Or just run 373-439ci and up the game. It is a lower record that, in theory, should be easier to obtain. I ask about...

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

Ok thanks for the clarification. I was picturing less advance timing so combustion would be after TDC and direct push down. Less cylinder pressure than a high compression NA engine. Maybe I was wrong, or just using the wrong words. Likely both.

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

Just need a double entry fee, i think, and name change on the side.

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

With boost and a late firing event, combustion pushing merely straight down, I would bet these engines would handle way more than most think. High combustion/compression pressures take heavy tolls.

That's the engine I get to borrow, right? I mean, its just for about a week....

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

So, do I remember correctly that Max Wedge sized heads don't work well with the smaller bore of a 383?

Good morning everyone. Cooled way down for today. Windy, high of 65 for the day. Low tonight of 39

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

In talking with him, he moved here from New Zealand to work on Gale Banks' streamliner, was an engine guy for Al Tiege, rebuilt the Chet Herbert 4 engine liner, etc. Very smart guy. He bore scoped the fuel line and found the weak spot.

His was the streamliner that blew up at Speed Week this year. Flaw in pre-made fuel line. Blew panels off, lit car and driver on fire. Car will be fixed and back for all 3 events next summer. He has been on some great streamliner crews over the years!

My friend Sid will hopefully be the first piston driven car to breach 500mph next summer.

Speed Demon is said to have traction control a move at 400+. Record of 493IIRC and never fully used all the power

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

Some Aussie friends went 250mph at Bonneville World Finals today in A/CBFALT. 1972 Charger Valiant. 496ci dual plug hemi, crank driven procharger, methanol, liberty 5spd and quickchange. Hope they back that up tomorrow for the record.

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

Just because you have more power, doesn't mean you can get traction out there. And, it just means someone hasn't built that and made it work.

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

Hence my want to get below 372ci. My personal goal has always been 200, so 224 seems reachable. Kinda. Maybe. On paper

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

It wouldn't be cheating, just moves you to AA engine class. Then record is 246 for unblown or 255 for blown

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

As mentioned in post #65 Thank you Sir. An honest 700hp should get me to my personal goal. Then likely need to have 1,000-1,100hp for chasing an actual record in <372ci class. Can't have too much. Jerry has the 8553 Daytona which has aero advantage over me with C500 trim, but with 950hp at the...

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

Well the class is B/CGALT = b engine size (373-439.99)/ classic gas altered. This is for rookie and shakedown runs. Then add boost. B/CGALT - 254.100 mph Add boost B/CBGALT - 243.015mph C/CBGALT - 224.331mph this is the smaller engine displacement (306-372.99) and the reason for this...

What would you build if limited to 372ci - with boost as an option

Interesting. We can talk more about this. The only reason for this thread was to get that same engine under 372ci to lower the record from 246 to 224.
