Doug's headers not fitting - frustration

I know about the "old" thing, at 72 I can't do near what I could do in my 30's and 40's. As I said, I was curious as to what was causing all of the alignment problems. Maybe once you get the car back together, you can find a shop with a frame machine to see if the car might be tweaked. Just an...

Doug's headers not fitting - frustration

Bob, with as many alignment problems as you have encountered, is it possible the car is twisted out of shape because of no frame connectors, or maybe it was wrecked "hard" and then put back together? I'm just curious because of all I've read about you misadventures.

    Poorly worded for sale titles.

A detailed title would be nice. I do a "lot" of looking for people who still have full time jobs and can't look throughout the day. That way I can clue them in and they can take a look.

Finally grabbed a grinder again yesterday

Why not partition off an area and put a ductless unit in the wall. That way you would have a comfortable area to work. I did it in what I call my storage area, when it scotching outside I retreat to there and find something to do there.

    NOS booster mounting bolts oddity

The industry name for them are "Stover B locks nuts". They were used a lot on SBC stamped steel rocker arms for about 5 decades.

Going to Check Out a "Barn Find"

BrianT, the trick is "does he know what he is doing?" Who knows, he may finally relent and the two of you can agree on a price. I'd wait 10 days or so and go over with a hand full of dead presidents and give him an offer half way between your original offer and what he is asking. You can always...

Is the transmission 2000 Dodge Durango R/T 5.9 dead?

According to my trans guy, he suggested NOT putting new solenoids in it unless it's checked out internally. The two solenoids can get pretty pricy and if it's slipping it could toast the new solenoids if you try to drive it.

Is the transmission 2000 Dodge Durango R/T 5.9 dead?

It's most likely solenoid related, depending on how long it's been giving you trouble will depend on what else is hosed up. I had the same problem with a I bought truck about 8 yeas ago, the previous owner told me about it. I took it directly to my transmission guy and 1200.00 and 2 return trips...

    Front end

You need to get a handle on that, not only is it slowing you down, it's dragging the tires causing premature wear and it's hazardous to the handling of the car.

    Head gasket woes

I have two torque wrenches, one is a more modern click type and the other is a "trusty" old school beam type. If I question the click type wrench, I verify it with the beam wrench.

    Head gasket woes

My guess was going to be torque wrench. I've run ARP bolts and studs for the last 15 years and never had problems. My current 408 runs in at a shade under 12 to 1 but my 416 will be closer to 13 to 1. I'm toying with the idea of o-ringing the block on the 416.

    Bad Pilot Bushing Symptoms?

Get the OD of the crank and the input shaft. Replace the bushing with a good sealed bearing. I did this on my 68 Barracuda over 25 years ago, it was in the car when I sold it and the now owner says he's put three clutches in the car and is still using the same bearing.

Price variance between a quart of paint and a gallon of paint are very strange

This all started about 15 years ago when people jumped on the bandwagon about VOCs and what they due to the environment. The amount of damage done by shops is minuscule compared to the damage done by large industries. It's just another way for businesses to get into the little guy consumers pocket.
