The pad on the passenger side has Paint on it, but it didn't seem to have a vin stamp. I'll check again but don't want to mess with removing the paint.

Thanks for all of the info guys!
It is a thermoquad carb, and I messed up it's an 800 CFM.
Just want to make sure I give the best info I can on the motor, when we were sizing it up my mechanic and I must have been a little more optimistic.
Thanks again guys!
Hi Joe,
The early 833 don't have the raised stampings that the later transmissions had. The numbers on the castings are the only numbers on the transmission.
Yes flanged output, 23 spline input, came out of a 65 I believe... I don't recall the model it came from though.
AJ is correct it's a ball detent spring, like $3-4... you can spend the big bucks and pick up a whole assembly kit for $20.

Hi guys I've got a potential buyer a 340 engine I have, and the member is asking what kind of performance numbers should be expected. I was expecting to make between 350-400 HP from the build.
Since it's never been ran, I wanted input from some of you folks more engine savvy than me, to make...
Hi Treblig,
It comes with the heads, rockers, intake manifold, intake, carb, oil pump, I think I have the water pump too.
I bent 1 of the push rods while pulling it, rookie mistake other than that...
It's just been sitting for awhile in the shop.
I have the original 318 out of a 1968 Barracuda project I had going. Engine ran well when it was in the car, pulled it to replace with a 340. When we pulled it the mechanic inspected it and said everything looked good on it so I kept it to use for a stroker.
I have the Edelbrock intake...

I might be interested, I got a couple of guys interested in just the cars.
I really don't know what a 340 is going for right now, let me think it over for a day or two.
I have a clean title for the primered car that was put on non-op about a year ago, and the DMV lean of sale from a tow yard that the previous owner of the green car that documents the car's life.
Both cars have minor rust, the trunks of both would need to be replaced. Floor pans are solid in...
I have two 1968 Barracudas for sale; unfortunately no time, and relocation is forcing me to sell. I have paperwork on both cars, and they are located in Simi Valley, California

Picked up a parts car for my project and have some left over parts. Having some issues getting all of the pics up so if you need a closer look shoot me a pm. Only thing I can ship are the hubcaps.

20 mpg sounds great. I just want the project running, eventually we'll build the motor but for now top priority is getting her back on tthe road.
Sounds like I may have to wait a little longer, but the hemi seems to be the better deal. Thanks everyone
The more research I do seems like the 5.7 is a better gamble. I haven't found a true cost, but the RHS Indy ported heads for a stroker 390 seems like a better deal. Appreciate everyone's input on the matter thanks guys.
You bring up very valid points, considering:
I could build the motor mounts myself worst case, I've read that the jeep headers work "well enough" under $300, I was looking at the xv radiator package for the swap if I couldn't find anything else.
With the above, having a stock computer...
Thanks for the response 5.7. Does anyone make a complete swap kit?
I know the TTI mounts and headers seem to be the favorite, and an oil pan from different companies are a must, but I have been coming across differences regarding the computer and harness.
I take it I can redo the computer...
Been searching the forums, figured I'd ask and get an updated opinion.
I have a 68 Barracuda, with a 318 in need of a rebuild/new motor. I went to talk to my mechanic about building a 390 stroker and he offered me a 2007 5.7 HEMI from a charger for 1500 bucks everything included (minus...
