I called Edelbrock. They will not give out any specs, only a part number, and then would not sell it to me, or tell me who sold it. Told me to try Summit, Jegs or some place like that. Summit has no listing for it. Jegs had it and said ship out on Sept 17th, comes directly from Edelbrock...

I messed up and did not get a keeper on the vlave correctly on a set of Magnum edelbrock 61775 heads. I ended up bending the valve. Edelbrock gave me part number 39-1210 for the valve but said I had to go thru summit, Jegs, etc. Long story short, Jegs is the only one that sells it and states...

I am gonna disagree. This will be different but definitely not eye candy or performance. It is one of those looks cool on someone else's car, or on a rat rod. I think you will have more problems getting it running correctly than it will be worth, but best of luck to you.

They are the Viton metal clad, which articles say Viton is better and higher heat resistance than silicon. SO I think I will keep them on there. The new Howard valve springs are installed and have good clearance.

I am pulling it apart tonight. We will see if the seals they say are in there, really are.

It looks like the Edelbrock website calls them a "Positive (Metal Clad)" design Viton seal

Edelbrock gave me the part number and Summit calls them Viton material and have Umbrella in their description. I am guessing that is due to lack of a better description.

I have read many say the guides are not ideal.

I don't want to steal a thread, but I am running an auto A518 46RH OD, with 2400-2600 stall converter with 3.73 gears. I have a .508 purpleshaft that was in it when I bought the 340, but it was too big for my combo. I wanted a big cam sound, but did not have any other use for a big cam.

Thanks for your insight. I have a cast crank 340 that had previous been balanced and bored .030 over. I am not sure if I want to build a stock, high revving engine, a 372 stroker (ideal stroke/rod ratio), or all out stroke it and get big cubes.

He just told me that he had the engine running with a stock 1976 Cordoba trans and TC. Ran pretty smooth unil he broke a valve spring due to stock springs and a .508 lift purple shaft cam.

I don't have much into it, and came with a brand new set of heads. I could sell the block for more than I paid. I already have a 318 in the car and it runs and drives. I may just take some time and rebuild it.

Will it hurt to put that flex plate on it if it is balanced.

I have a 73 340 (January 73 build date), it looks like it is internally balanced as it has a thin, internally balanced harmonic balancer, the crank is cast with a windage tray), the pistons are forged TRW .030 over, the crank look counter drilled in the pics.
