    Congrats to member Scampin

I believe that 11.03 by Bill D lowers the record just a “skosh” for the BBM low deck engines. Great speed for one of those too. I know he’s lookin for that “10”.

    That’s what I’m talkin ‘bout!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

    Bent Push Rob Saga

I see the heads have the two groove exhaust valves. Those typically are used in truck/industrial applications with rotators and short springs. They usually don’t play well with .450 lift cams, so just make sure someone has verified all the parts being used are compatible. The intake valves...

Edelbrock performer intake manifold for a 318

DTM still showing his mastery. 9 pages(and growing) of……. Nothing.

I forgot Jim started out with a stick. That brings back memories of him smoking the tires in 2nd gear during some runs at LVD.

Exhaust valves that can take the heat

They’re fine for street/mild race applications. They have a single square lock groove(same as pretty much all performance valves).

Jim Seiler had the one FAST BB a body I know of. While he was running it he had the quickest low deck BBM in the series. I think the “official” best ET for it was like 11.52. A member on this sight is working on resurrecting that engine and putting it in a notch back Cuda. The current ET...

440 Heads - Angled Spark Plugs?

Trick flow 240 chambers. Spark plug holes are clearly angled.

440 Heads - Angled Spark Plugs?

AFAIK, there are only three currently manufactured aftermarket heads for the BBM that have straight plugs. 440 Source, the Eddy E Street 84cc version, and the B1-BS. The rest have angled plugs.

    Pushrod- these are NO good

Those lifters are reboxed by several vendors, but I believe the only “manufacturer” that uses that style of retaining device is Hylift Johnson.

    Eric's cam challenge

I’m not saying that what Eric found is impossible, but If I were Joe Carrol I’d be sliding that cam in a block and measuring it up for myself.

    Eric's cam challenge

This spring I had a customer who thought there was a problem with a BBM roller I’d sold him. I had Comp run it thru the Adole 911 laser camshaft measuring machine……..way more accurate than a cam dr. That particular cam measured out excellent, not just the lobe accuracy, but bearing roundness...

Edelbrock performer intake manifold for a 318

Opening a DTM thread is like a box of chocolates………. You never know what you’re going to get. This thread is a prime example…….the thread title suggests something to do with an intake manifold. Then it morphed into a DT no car M tangent, then ac/no-ac firewalls, now into poor a body parts...

    Bent Push Rob Saga

I’d want to assess what you had before ordering anything. More than likely, some machine shop services will be required.

    Bent Push Rob Saga

Not at all likely(and how would that affect only cyl #4?) Probably a bent valve in number 4 cyl. And not likely bent “just a little bit” either. A relatively easy visual inspection for that is to look across the tops of the retainers for that side after removing the rocker shaft. You’re looking...

A steady(ish) popping back thru the carb can from an exhaust valve not opening.

    Bent Push Rob Saga

I’d go for the simple stuff first. Pull the vc off the other side and look things over. On the side you’ve been working on, pull that cover back off. Turn the engine over to the point where each rocker is all the way closed. When each is in that position, make sure the rocker isn’t able to...

    Eric's cam challenge

As an example of how live testing is important, and doesn’t always agree with simulations……… I think Eric had a video where he had run some of the profiles thru a sim, and DV’s cam came out on top of the “averages”. In the live testing, it didn’t pan out that way.

    Eric's cam challenge

The only way you’ll really know how good the selection is, is to test it. Unless you’re copying a complete known combo bolt for bolt.

Edelbrock performer intake manifold for a 318

That sums it up. On a side note, it seems that DTM’s Ede manifold thread has somehow derailed itself into a NoCarForDan thread.

    Eric's cam challenge

I understand what your saying, but…….imo, It’s not going to respond favorably to the same type of cams I’d use in a 505” RB BBM with a set of std port RPM heads on it.
  25. PRH

    Eric's cam challenge

Imo, running the 110 fuel opened up the doors for people to get creative with the intake closing point…….. while at the same time protecting the engine from detonation induced damage. I think it was a good call. Plus, it was used for all cams.

    Eric's cam challenge

I haven’t looked very hard at the results, but my take on the Summit cam is it was “engineered” to be more tune friendly when used with EFI. If I understand correctly where that cam came from, it wasn’t selected specifically for the contest……..someone had it already, and sent it in.

My thoughts when I read the OP were…… “Ummmmmm………what?”

    Eric's cam challenge

I feel like anything even remotely recent from DV is at a minimum, “click bait” oriented.
