Actually we are just getting a little closer to the starting line. Once the basement is cleaned out, or at least to the point we can maybe cover the lathe, etc, it will be time to demolish. Pull out ALL sheet rock insulation, and at least the upstairs wiring and maybe the basement...

Found some more questionable issues. Pinion gear has some wear on the leading edges, this one in photo being the worst. Ring gear looks beautiful, everything turns and feels really smooth. This is more than only cosmetic like the sg housing... but still...?

there might be rebuild kits out there, you may want to disassemble and make sure everything is in decent condition. I had one that the pistons were all corroded and wasn't worth rebuilding. nice thing is this style is common to pretty much every GM from the 70's and 80's and new replacements...
