    Magnum header gasket

Finishing up my 5.9 swap. Going to use 318 manifolds original to my car. Should I use a header gasket? I hate them but I'm wondering if I might need them since these manifolds aren't designed for use with magnum heads.

Exhaust manifolds from a 1994+ magnum

So I bought some manifolds that I thought were the two and 1/8 in outlet opening but they turned out to be the later model 94 and up exhaust manifolds. The guy advertised them as the early model manifolds with the two and 1/8 inch opening which I already had one of which I am going to use on my...

    Magnum Heads On 340

I rebuilt my 68 340 block in the early 2000s and used magnum heads on it. After having one set with cracks I just bought new bare castings. Back then all the Mopar magazines said that the 340 hipo exhaust manifolds bolt right on and they were right except you eight huge exhaust leaks. I...

    Magnum exhaust manifold studs.

Are you trying to use the Magnum manifolds on a Magnum or an LA? If it's on a Magnum there's no need for studs, all the exhaust bolt holes are dry. They just used bolts from the factory. If you're putting them on an LA, just use bolts and sealer on the outer two bolt holes, it'll seal just...

Exhaust Manifold options for a 5.9 magnum and 64 dart

I've looked at the thread about using magnum manifolds and while tempting looks like it's by no means a clean and easy fit. I ain't chasing no power but 340 manifolds look like the most reasonable thing to use. No power steering on this car

    5.2 magnum A833 2.93 Highway MPG

What highway mileage are you guys getting with a stock 5.2 magnum with 4speed (64 B&T)? Planing on swapping out the slant six for a Stock magnum 5.2 RV Camshaft Rpm air gap 500cfm edelbrock, and magnum exhaust manifolds With a solid distributor curve and a good V-Can, and a msd box with 2.93...

Drilling a Magnum intake for '73 'J' heads?

They drill Magnum heads to the LA pattern. I'm not aware of anybody redrilling LA heads to the Magnum pattern, although I'm sure it could be done; but why? The selection of LA manifolds is so much better anyways.

I had magnum heads with 340 manifolds I ran remflex gaskets for a magnum engine no sealing issues

what inter changes between a LA and magnum small block. stuff like timing chain, timing chain cover, oil pump and oil pan. distributor ? will 340 exhaust manifolds fit a magnum head? i know the intake is different. are the LA accessories able to work on the magnum?

    273 mix matched head

My point. No manifolds were dual pattern except the late model LA/ Magnum I takes.

    5.9L Magnum questions

If you don't have power steering, the Magnum manifolds (or a set from a different truck) might be a nice, low restriction option. General consensus/opinion is .520 is the upper limit of valve lift on Magnum heads before cutting the guides is necessary. You'll want to check that pretty carefully.

    magnum intake

There is no intake that I know of currently available that has LA bolt pattern and Magnum thermostat housing and bypass hose setup. The genuine Edelbrock RPM air gap for Magnum is the only one currently available with the Magnum thermostat and bypass hose, but it is only available with Magnum...

Exhaust Manifold options for a 5.9 magnum and 64 dart

There are some mismatch issues between the 340 manifolds and magnum heads. A thread or two on here discusses that.

...be the '92-93 Magnum manifold that has a larger outlet diameter than the later ones, casting numbers 617/618. Even the standard Magnum manifolds don't give much up to the larger bore ones or the 340 manifolds. They all will take some horsing around to get them to fit an early A (even the 340...

    Driver's side manifold

Magnum manifolds would SEEM to be the logical answer- they clear the manual box but may need to have the column sleeve trimmed back; not sure if there's enough clearance to do that with a column shift. May need a bit of grinding to clear the shaft/coupler as well, and/or a swap from coupler to...

    Magnum exhaust manifold studs.

Yes magnum manifolds on LA heads. I forgot about the water jacket intrusion. I was thinking is also easier to set the gaskets on the studs when mounting. But then again I've recently heard that early engines particularly 273 never used exhaust gaskets. Thanks I may just mount them with bolts...

    [WANTED] Aftermarket Magnum heads

...heads as cast by EQ, offering .227 CFM on intake @500. They reasonably priced and designed for the LA intake manifold, which gives you more options, magnum manifolds selection is limited. Speedmaster and others have a Chinese knock off Eldebrock Rpm air gap for about $150 that fits LA and...

    Thermostat Housing sizes

Some of the M1 manifolds used a smaller thermostat, maybe the same one as used on Magnum engines. Your new manifold is probably specced for the one used in V8s from the 1950s until the Magnum came out.

    5.9L Magnum questions

Well, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a decent 1998 5.9 Magnum core locally. Supposedly out of a Dakota R/T. Stripped it down that day and was pleasantly surprised at it's condition, considering it supposedly had 100K plus miles on it. Virtually no ridge in the cylinders, and they still...

Sanity check on carb. 650cfm feels right

You should look into getting 5.9 magnum exhaust manifolds with a small section of tail pipe, flange & bolts. They will most likely flow better than stock 273 manifolds. you will have to trim a few inches off the lower steering column. this option will only work with manual steering. AS said...

best hi flow ex manifold/drivers side

I dunno that just doesn’t look safe, that motor would have to be chained down because if it shifts up it’s going to push on the steering shaft. Wish there was some better picture cause it looks like it’s resting on the manifold……….
  29. toolmanmike

    273 mix matched head

No! No early manifolds were dual bolt pattern. LA and Magnum yes.
