Getting started to work on my 1974 Dart Sport. I got questions

Exactly what dano said. It's really easy to go down the rabbit hole with a project like this. A whole lot more information about what you want to do with it and how original it currently is, and do you want to keep that originality if it still exists, or do you plan a no expense spared full on...

Changing crankshaft bearings with the engine in the car.

Very well could have been, I used that method before my apprenticeship. We gained mosta our early knowledge from the monthly magazines, and adapted that to whatever make we were working on. Personally, I'd run 20/50 like I do my high mileage Jeeps. 300k, 3 of em, - knock like hell for a coupla...

Getting started to work on my 1974 Dart Sport. I got questions

You said the car has sat for a decade? First thing I do is pull the gas tank, IF it had any gas, dump that, pull the pickup and use light etc to see inside tank's condition. Clean the car inside and out. Make list of all the mechanicals that probably need to be addressed for a safe ride.\ Go...

    This place is amazing!

'Tis amazing and never let anytime go by without checking parts for sale. I check several times a day and missed a day and lost out on a screaming deal on throttle and kick down linkage I could use from a seller I've bought from before. ugh !

Are Speedmaster Heads Good? I've Heard a Lot of Bad Press on Edelbrock 340 Heads Lately

So I guess now my dilemma now is in order to eventually reach my goal of low 10's do I. Option 1: Spend $3-4k for some trickflows with a manifold and Harland sharps to pick up a few tenths on my 360? Option 2: Get an Indy top end set with valvetrain for $6-7k that will give me much more...

    [WANTED] wanted driveshaft

I know this shaft is a big tube with a smaller tube inside it then the smaller tube is belled out, so the yoke fits in it. not enough of the belled out to take 2 inches off one end. I can tig the yokes on myself. and thanks to all for the helpful suggestions.

Putting up a shop in CA - fire department being a pain

That is why people live in the country...no zoning, build what you like, how you like, where you like...and worst thing we have is property tax people. But if you sell, be prepared for the buyer to have it "inspected" to see that it is "constructed" to meet that guys idea of correct! so the...

Basically some will be satisfied with the results of this cam others won't be, question is if the OP will be or not, and only he can decide that.

Getting started to work on my 1974 Dart Sport. I got questions

What is your overall goal and intended use for the car with budget? This is the time to be very realistic and honest with yourself. The wrong direction could cost you extra money you didn't intend to spend, enjoyment, marriage, cause a drinking problem, etc.

    .480/230 cam in an 8.5 CR 360?

Maybe not optimal, but millions of builds have been built that way and turn out fine. Not everybody is looking to wring every single bit or power out of one. Some people need to use what they have.
