UCA with poly - slider caps

final solution: I gave up on those prothane bushings. Trying to get the washers to stay in place while you shoved in the control arm is nearly impossible. So I bailed and installed MOOG regular bushings. Easy as pie. Now down she goes, set ride height, tighten and give a basic alignment to...

UCA with poly - slider caps

MOOG says they will not sell the slider caps only. So I am going to buy some super-cheap china-made junk bushing so I can steal the slider caps off them and use them. It appears to be the cheapest and fastest option. MOOG tech service was surprised that anyone actually sold the offset kit I...

UCA with poly - slider caps

Yeah, those are the ones I could save, the rest had cracks in them or broke around the center when I pried them off the old bushings. That’s not counting the ones I bent the heck out of. I saw that the MOOG K7103 offset kit has new slide caps so I asked MOOG if I could just get the caps. It’s a...

Prothane 4-206bl from Summit. Just washers and instructions to reuse the old. As I said, the old ones are trash. I just need the slide washers. Rgaz

UCA with poly - slider caps

73 duster Putting in poly bushings and they say to reuse the end caps, but they don’t fit in the inner sleeve and mine are pretty bad. Do I use them? Where would I get new ones? Bushings came with washers but I’m sure these are not what I should use. Rgaz

Slant Six Oil light coming on — need a new pump?

Another sludge cleaning method I used is as follows: Buy your favorite 100% synthetic oil (I like Mobil1) and favorite filter (Wix or Puralator) along with 3Qt Marvels Mystery Oil. 1. Change oil and filter 2. Add synthetic but replace 1 quart with Marvels. 3. Run at IDLE or slightly more for...

    Torsion bar adjuster question

Please explain "broke off"? Did the head of the bolt shear off? Is it seized up in the adjuster with the tension fully on? I would recommend getting all the weight off the torsion bar and then find a way to loosen the adjuster. If you just sheared the head, make sure the threads are soaked...

Front End Rebuild - my first rodeo

Oh! The upper bump stop. I replaced mine when I had the a-arm off. I would install it after the car is at ride height (weight on it) with the wheel cranked to reach it.

It's no wonder the Slant 6 is so great!

To answer the OP question with rumor only.... There is a post somewhere that the block was over-designed and used excessive thickness and webbing due to the possibility it was going to be an aluminum block. Don't know if its fact, but the block itself is quite a beast. The unequal runner...

Front End Rebuild - my first rodeo

Look great. Don't forget the LCA bump stop. I am doing the same rebuild on my 73 Duster and it looks the same! Just got my Kanter TB's as well. One thing: its hard to see but make sure you have the UCA adjuster shims on both ends of the bolts. I cannot tell if you have the nut ends on (you...

    Driveline angles

I get it. What it tells me is that my crappy worn out stock leaf springs (that are essentially flat almost inverse) that I installed my 8.75 rear on are probably allowing crazy motion. Good thing my ESPO's just arrived. I will have to check the angles again after I get the ESPO's installed...

    Driveline angles

Holy cow, that angle changes a ton. That is just crazy when I am setting up for a ~3Deg downangle and it flexes way more than that up and down. OF course the Caltracs eliminate that I see. Good videos. Thanks RGAZ

    Driveline angles

Nice, thanks. So from that video, my takeaway is if the phasing is correct and the angles are parallel, there is no vibration felt. If there is a small difference in parallel the vibration would be felt all the time and get worse the faster you drive. It would be constant and never come and...

    Driveline angles

Ok, so when would he see vibration? Only under acceleration? Cruising? High speed? I am curious as to how the driveline angle being too high or low will present itself when driving. Experience out there? RGAZ

    Upper control arm bracing?

73 duster. I’m totally rebuilding stock suspension and braced the lower control arm using methods on here, but is there a method for the upper an arm? Thinking I could just box the underneath pretty easy, anyone have any suggestions? Start point here… I could easily weld in 1/8” steel to...

    LCA bushing fear

Ok, I’m going poly. Pressed out pins easy, rubber came out easy. Didn’t want to waste cash on Mancini braces so I did it myself with 1/8” steel. Turned out good. Just waiting on FedEx for my bushings and ball joints and it should be better than stock. Rgaz

    LCA bushing fear

Manual says press pin out from hex end, I have a press that should do it. And then chisel out the sleeve. I have an air chisel and a 3 stage compressor. Should be doable. What’s the torch for? Burning out the rubber? I might just chisel it out and make a mess. I am considering welding in...

    cracked dash pad

I rebuilt my B-body dash pad. They have a similar "vinyl covered foam" design and cracked badly. In simple terms I ground down every crack removing anything loose. Then I filled each crack with Fiberglass Jelly in progressive steps until it was filled. Then I used Polyester body filler (Like...
