Good point. There's no way to get cone washers under the sleeve nuts, but it might not be a bad idea to put them under the four center bolts.

I have the 340 exhaust manifolds on my car with the Accurate Exhaust head pipes. I have that same oil filter plate without the 90 degree adapter and I have to use a really short oil filter to clear. And I have to unbolt the head pipe to change filters. The filter is a Wix/Napa 1335.

What brand of head pipes are you running? I have a 340 on a stand with those manifolds and TTI head pipes. Although I do have the 90* adapter, I could roughly compare since everything is in plain sight. Let me know if you want a picture. :thumbsup:

Exactly. The 440 magnums were under cammed with a 268 degree intake duration from the factory. Not every engine has to wind to 6 or 7k to make decent power for a street motor.

There will always be those that discount the 318. It just didn't have the glory of the 340 because it didn't receive the cams, 4bbl, good manifolds... it was a grocery-getter. But for what the 318 will do, it's worth it. You can get cheap power from a 318. Try buying anything 340 cheaply. :D

here's an older video... this stock 340 is nice stock cam, smooth idle, quiet through exhaust manifolds, good mileage and nice street performance. certainly not for the quarter milers.

I believe Mancini's were offering repop versions of the 340 manifolds, which port size etc will fit best imho. I'm just taking off manifolds from my grandson's 273 to put headers on .
