Stop in for a cup of coffee

Mine were a pain to get to seal also still have some oil on the header prob just need to run it long enough to burn it off that is the only thing I do not like about heat wrap it is also a oil sponge.

    manifolds or headers

The TTI guy said the same thing to us as I read in another post. Why use a shorty when the longs fit fine. We just did back to back small block Dart builds... one 68 with TTI long tube and one 67 with Dougs and both with power steering and 904's. First thing, the TTI's have better instructions...

    Schumacher header exhaust coating

I beileve she is saying the ceramic coating would be voided. Other places like Schumacher say it on there site. "Do NOT wrap the coated header" Because the heat held in as well as water damages the coating. The manufacture of the coatings (that I have read) also state this.

    Header Question

Almost forgot about that. The biggest deal with header wrap though is to make sure you coat or paint them right. Or the heat/condensation will eat away the pipes post haste.

    header wrap? pro's / con's

I had to cut back at the first bend a little, couldn`t get a wrench on some of the header bolts w/ it wrapped clear up to the flanges. Other than that I`ve had no problems w/ cracking, rusting or any failure. My 505 puts out a lot of heat, no problems w/ cracking, warping, or rusting...

    Fuel Return with Mechnical Pump

Do you run gas with EtOH? Unfortunately, that's all we've got in CA. I plan on adding a heat shield under the carb and some DEI heat wrap over the fuel line near the header. If those don't cut it, I'm gonna have to engineer something. As I said, the issue is very minor, but then again, it's...

    Header Question

Then there's also header wrap to contain a lot of it. That's actually just one of the reasons I put a hood scoop on.

Insulating Against Heat on the Carb

I ended up ditching the Edelbrock carburetor and installed a Holley. I kept the 1/2" phenolic spacer on the car for good measure. I did not block off the heat crossover at all on my intake. I have not had a single problem since switching to the Holley carb.

Insulating Against Heat on the Carb

...thick gasket https://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-9266 and will be getting it running hopefully tonight. I also am going to use header wrap around my fuel line above the intake manifold leading up to the carb. We'll see how it goes. Thing all but died off the line against a Monte Carlo a...

    Screeching

...I would bet it is harmonics in this case, and that the tones are slightly different. A permanent solution if it's the exhaust is to use header wrap and band clamps. A galled roller lifter bearing is plausible but I wouldn't think that it would last too long. Are you able to vent the...

    Header Question

From my experience, the coating on the headers doesn't matter when using the header wrap. The rust through comes from condensation inside the tubes. It's especially quick if you drive short distances and don't get enough heat throughout the system to keep condensation at bay. My personal...

    Pressure building in tank

The CoolCarb heat shield and spacer are fantastic but I wouldn't run them if I still had heat crossover. I talked to the owner and he advised against it. There are other spacers and heat shields out there. Don't get me wrong I like Edelbrock carbs, I run one, but the fuel sits directly over the...

...used. The raised ports flow great, but agrivate every thing greatly. I put more wrap on #2 tube (looks like hell) glued a piece of header wrap to the cast valve cover, after clearancing it a little, and barely had room to cram a piece of thin aluminum in between the pipe and the cover, it...

    FiTech EFI system

All, I had the same overheating issue. I moved the FCC as far as possible fwd away from the Alt/Header and added a DEI Heat Wrap to shield the FCC. The wrap is secure to the upper diameter of the FCC and the rest of the canister is free to discharge heat as the wrap is not in contact with...

    65 Barracuda headers

5208's are pretty small but are equal length. I had them on a STR-12'd 340 with a pretty mellow 284/.484 MP cam. They were very well engineered, didnt hit a thing but came super close in like 10 places....mine were drilled too low so the port floor kept leaking and was driving me crazy...

I do not know what a sfi flywheel is. It has a stall but a stock flywheel. I did the header wrap on the exhaust and then wrapped a heat shield on the starter last night. Will try it out and see what happens.

Anyone know how hot headers get about 2" out from the head?

Header wrap will definitely keep underhood temps down but be careful - the wrap has a tendency to let moisture buildup in the tubes once the car is turned off. Headers will rust from the inside out over time (a long time, I admit, but still...)

    Heat Shroud for Fuel Pump

Just a smidge. I'm trying to curb any minor issue before it gets hot this summer. I know the fuel line along the frame gets a bit warm next to the header. I plan on putting a heat shield wrap over that and install a return line off my regulator back to the tank. I was just brainstorming and...
