    65 barracuda headers

I thought the same thing. I didn't wrap them all the way to the collector. Just to the junctions of where the two halfs meet. Yeah, it gets hot under there! Since these pictures, I swapped to Edelbrock Max-Fire wires that came free with the Air Gap. The boots on the plugs are much more...

Got the front set finished today. Thank goodness for header wrap, it looks like Frankenstein now with the tube jogs to clear the Webers. Now for the back set. I hope they look better, but I doubt it.

    Burnt shifter cable today

I just pick some of that up. I won't mention the name of United Speed World because they ripped me off on a set of heads. I have limited knowledge, I'm. Not a Machinist. But I I've been doing this for a while and I'm not a dumbass. So,if you're going to magnaflux a set of heads, put new valve...

318 LA rebuild after losing a valve seat

Thanks gzig. I was kinda wondering if the header wrap would be cumbersome going around those tiny lines. I installed these headers last summer when the car was still running and had no idea what I was doing, so I didn't think about the heat they'd be putting off. I didn't wrap anything, didn't...

You have to be INSANE to have long-tube headers on a big-block A-body Mopar!

i understand your "anger" at exhaust headers over the problems they present. however, unless the factory designed exhaust manifolds are very well designed with excellent flow characteristics - which most factory manifolds are not, you just can't beat the performance gain with a set of...

    Fenderwell headers for a 440 69 A body Cuda

About 6 years ago I put a set of NOS Hooker 1 7/8 fenderwell headers in my ‘67 383 Formula S car that I have driven roughly 17-20k miles so far. Tires - I’m running 155R15 Firestones on 3.5” Slot Mags w/1” bolt on adapters & I have no rubbing issues but I run it fairly high, it’s super close &...

2019 summer race.... Jadaharabi vs 318willrun

no, but most if they are going to wrap will do full header wrap. Just wrap the portion you wish to and wrap a tie wire or metal zip tie or something around it to hold it.

    Header and exhaust wrap question

Good to know, well I don't have full length header just ones for the turbos, I might get away with it, if not then I'll order another 50ft. I don't think on the titanium I need to soak them in water if I'm not mistaken or will it help make a tigher wrap?

What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

My son bought me heat wrap and plug wire boots for Father's Day. I installed them today. I put a slit in the heat wrap for the fuel line bracket and wrapped it all the to just past #6 header tube. Since I don't need passenger side boots, I used one on the fuel hose to the carburetor. Not...

    Fuel line run question

mderoy340, your lines look so similar to my lines. I am attaching some pics of mine and I cant find any right at the headers but mine are pretty much the same as yours. I have insulated them with the heat wrap and also built a 1/8" shield between them and the header collector. Also where my fuel...

New heads on the way for my Dart, few changes

yep, the W5 head was a nice weapon. If the casting quality could have been improved, you had a home run, no doubt. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, and Indy stepped in with a solution that performs at that level right around that same time frame. Too bad TTI doesnt make that header any more...

    Installing headers 73 duster 318

Quit worrying about it, lol. Roll with the punches. If it were me I would hang the headers from the inner fender with some wire, undo the cross link and slide it through the header and leave it unhooked on the driver side. Drop the engine in and get it lined up and loosely bolted. Once it's...

    Distributor recurve

The reason I'm fudging with the distributor is I already have "a lot of detonation and lousy fuel economy" (15 mpg in town). My goal with the distributor is to reduce the mechanical advance to eliminate the ping. I have stock 2" exhaust all the way back. I think the Super Six cars came with a...

Steering column is hitting the headers and melting the plastic

They make and sell a nice app. Two inch header wrap and stainless clamps that I have used too. I still have a set of 1/4 inch steel plates that I made years ago that I used on the engine mounts to raise the engine a touch for another issue I had like this.

...go. And finally, don't do it unless you really need it. If your car is a short distance driver, over time the wrap can hold moisture inside the header tubes and they can rust from the inside out. I used header wrap on the tubes on my Cobra replica. In about 6 years I had rust through in 3 tubes.

Hell yeah! Glad it wasn't hurt anymore than that! Some plug wire wrap would work for that. Although, routing it away from the header would be best.

    Carb Spacers...

If you ever have your header off Wrap them! that will help as well. Another trick, until you get the headers Wrapped. Get a 3/8 rubber hose. split it down the middle and slide it over the fuel line, on the fire wall, to keep the headers from boiling the fuel right there. alu foil over that...

    Installing headers 73 duster 318

That's pretty much the way I did it with the engine out of it. The one thing I would add is that an engine leveler made the job a whole lot easier for me. I just kept lowering the engine and trans in slowly and didn't force anything. Sometimes I had to raise it again a little and adjust the...

Ran this wrap on my daily driver 84 Shelby Charger 2.2 with the long tube header. It helped keep the heat down and took some of the 'PING' out. Worked in all weather for 3 years in Germany and then 2 years in USA when the front motormount broke and the header hit the ground a couple times and...

...Mr. Gasket Ultra seals and light torque on the header bolts since the twin exhaust ports are the likely ones to warp. I also use the Mr. G gaskets at the collector/reducer. ‘72 Demon. Electric fuel pump mount?? Pics?

@Jimmy2Times Here's the rest of the install. I still need to wrap the post fuel filter (large marine fuel/water seperator) with header wrap. I would recommend a return line system to quiet down and extend the pump life. It also keeps cool fuel supply to the carb.
