    67 commando 273 issue

So I picked up the suggested edelbrock 9266 spacer and the bolt pattern on my AFB and factory intake are quite different. I could maybe butcher this spacer but it won’t be ideal just the way the correct gasket overlaps the 9266 for comparison. Am I missing something? My buddy who is a retired...

    Factory brake booster question

Oh, and yes of course I do have an FSM.

    Factory brake booster question

Where do I measure to determine the size of booster that I have? Mine is the original and my car is a formulas S 67 with a commando engine.

    67 commando 273 issue

Does anyone know where I can get one of these insulators?

    Factory brake booster question

I’ve got a vacuum leak in the factory brake booster in my 67 barracuda, and I don’t have vacuum assist on the brakes. I’m guessing there is a diagram issue. This type of booster is the 2 part booster held together by a removable band clamp. Are these boosters rebuildable or does a guy need to...

    67 commando 273 issue

I rebuilt my factory 273 commando engine from the 67 barracuda I bought last fall. I have broke in the camshaft and lifters, set the timing etc and the engine runs and sounds beautiful. Today I started the engine and let it idle to get another heat cycle into it while I tweaked a few things...

    Dual point distributor question

Thanks for the replies, and yes I’m aware of tge specs and it’s way out of spec. Not even worth spinning up on my Sun synchrograph to see where the curve is at. The vacuum advance plate has zero play other than rotational so that is good. I’ll contact the recommended gent and see what he thinks...

    Dual point distributor question

I’m getting very close to being able to fire up my 67 barracuda for the first time since I bought it. I pulled the 273 commando engine and had it machined, rebuilt the heads, etc and I’ve now got everything installed and I’m ready to break in the cam and lifters since I had them ground. Anyways...

    273 commando questions

Thanks for all of the info gents. See 273 pushrods for solid lifters easily available? I do see them for hydraulic lifters, but of course I have solid ones.

    273 commando questions

Are 273 and 273 commando pushrods the same?

    273 commando questions

And again, my engine is the 273 commando; are the valve lash settings different than on a regular 273? I know the cam durations etc were quite different.

    273 commando questions

Another related question for setting the valves once installed. In the FSM and online it says to set them hot, but of course I’m reassembling the engine after a full rebuild. I’m guessing setting the valves to the same specs cold will be good enough for a start to break in the engine, and then...

    273 commando questions

Just reassembling the matching number 273 commando engine in my 67 barracuda. I had it machined. When I bought the car last fall it had been sitting for years and someone had broken into the barn it was stored in and stole the air cleaner, rocker covers, and the rocker valve assemblies years...

1969 Dodge Dealership Salesman Data Book Fun Facts Questions

I know this is an older thread, but I just hit the jackpot on these dealership books from a friend. This group has the desireableyears from 67-71 and also has the full set of smaller “fast facts” books for each year. Needless to say I am thrilled to have them.

    67 barracuda dash refinishing?

I’ve got the dash panel out of my 67 barracuda so I can clean everything, check the switches and wiring harness, replace the bulbs, etc. My car is an unrestored car that I bought off of the original owner this fall. The car had been stored in a Quonset for 30 years, and the mice had gotten into...

    Making switch tabs

I would definitely buy a replacement switch if I can find one which is why this convo started in the parts wanted forum but I thought it might be worth exploring the possibility of fixing the one I have if I can’t find a replacement

    Making switch tabs

I have been chatting in the parts wanted forum with some members who suggested I move the discussion here in the electrical forum. I’ve removed the dash and gauges from my 67 barracuda for a refresh and a cleaning. I doubt anything has been removed since the factory as I bought this car from the...

[WANTED] 1967 barracuda wiper and heater switches

I suppose a guy could just make new tabs out of the appropriate gauge brass and solder them onto the rivets on the switch?

[WANTED] 1967 barracuda wiper and heater switches

Yes, it is variable speed and the shaft rotates. The issue with the switch is 4 or 5 of the wiring harness plug tabs have broken off. Can you buy new tabs?

[WANTED] 1967 barracuda wiper and heater switches

I am refreshing the dash and gauge cluster on my 1967 barracuda. In taking the dash out some of the times on the back of these 2 switches were corroded and broke off and stayed in the harness connector, so I am needing a replacement wiper switch, and heater motor switch. If you have one or both...

    Auto tranny number stamping?

Ah yes, you are right. I was working on my 69 charger this week and had 727 on the brain.

    Auto tranny number stamping?

I cleaned off the stamping on the left side of my 727 above the oil pan on my 67 barracuda 273 commando car. The number stamping are clear but seem a bit strange to me compared to B and E body automatic numbers that I’ve seen over the years. I thought I would throw the stamped numbers up to see...

    273 dilemma

Will definitely be checking out the trans pump pressure; I’ve already checked the tranny cooler lines and they aren’t blocked at all. Looks like the engine has never been out of the car, and it’s the factory converter by the orange factory paint spray mark on the converter and the flex plate...
