Leaking issues in my 200 4R - any gurus available?

I'm putting out 500hp and 548 ft/lbs of torque. Been good for three years so far and I beat the **** out of it. Rolling burnouts, track racing, street racing, it takes it all.

    Transmission Options

I went with the 2004R Gm trans. Bought the TCi adapter but I don't know if they make an adapter for the /6. I love the way the car drives and runs. I get great gas mileage and have plenty of power on the low end. Top speed is 175 MPH with 3.73 gears!! You can use a pretty low rear gear...

    727 vs 904?

I'd do that to our dart in a heartbeat but I refuse to hack that crossmember in such a clean car.

    200R4 update

...will vary because depending on which adapter you use it will shift the transmission further and further back (TCI being the thinnest). The 2004R trans has many small protrusions on either side that you'll have to make clearance for, so depending on where the trans ends up (front to back)...

    1972 Dart LS swap

...of the flooring and removal of the torsion bar cross member center. Although there is a VERY good write up on a Dart or Duster using a built 2004R gm tranny. It seemed to only need trimming of the crossmember and no floor cutting. With your swap, perhaps if you trimmed the K member or the oil...

    Mopar A Body Overdrive Conversion

Here's a great article about the 200/700 differences: http://webrodder.com/article/700r4-vs-200r4-which-is-best But remember...The 2004R weighs 9 lbs less and uses less horsepower to function. So you'll have less parasitic loss of power BUT the 2004R does have it's limits So if...

Relocating of the Neutral Safety Switch

And you never said where you got your push button switch. I'd light to install one like that in my clutch pedal sometime, cheaper and smaller than a factory one.

    magnum manifolds/340 manifolds

Thanks for the info Tom. My Barracuda has 318, console shifter and 2004R overdrive!! Using the same manifolds as you are (340 driver/360 magnum passenger) and they fit perfect. treblig

New commercial mount for 2004R transmission

...can host them somewhere else, and then post them here, they will show as you want. Please don't, however post huge giant photos much over 800x pixels However, you are going to have to "tell us" where we are going over at US Car Tool ALSO I AM CONFUSED Is it 2004R or...

Highway RPM with the 200R4. Gotta love it!

Mopar to ya is the MAN!! He inspired me to put a 2004R into my Barracuda. With 3.73 gear I'm running 2200 RRM at 65/70 MPH. It's so smooth and much better off the line. As for the cross member mods, here are some pics of what I had to do. Also a few pics of the shifter down rod (torque...

One wire lock-up, 4 spd automatic w overdrive into A-body.

I would rather install a 2004R into two separate cars than install ONE A/C system from scratch. I've done it but the 2004R was a piece of cake compared to installing a complete A/C system. treblig

    Transmission Options

Two totally different transmissions. From the factory, GM typically used the TH2004R behind low horsepower /low torque v6/v8 engines while the 700r4(as known as the 4L60) was used in Corvettes, Camaro's, cop cars, and light duty trucks. Both can be built to withstand more HP than GM intended...

    help--- RADIATOR/TRANSMISSION FITTINGS (BRASS)

i was thinking of using a small oil cooler kinda thing. but thats beyond the point. thanks for the help/ !:cheers: haha i did realize it was a stupid question before i even thought of it. :happy1::sign3:haha

    how tough is a A518

...also a problem area, but once changed to the later design the problems virtually disappeared. These transmissions fail no more or no less than any other transmission. I'd like to have a dollar for every 700R4 & 2004R that were swapped out for a TH350 over the years. I'd be a multi-millionaire.

    Help with 2004R tranny swap

Well I'm in the middle of installing a 2004R in my '69 Barracuda. It originally came with a 904. I got the 2004R all the way up there but it won't go up high enough (in front) because the round point at the top center of the bell housing hits the underside of the firewall. Tomorrow I plan to...

Leaking issues in my 200 4R - any gurus available?

Regarding the filter. Mine has a 700R4 filter in it that sucks fluid from the bottom/rear. It works well with the deeper cast pan. It also has about 4 o-rings on the pick-up tube to seal it.

Leaking issues in my 200 4R - any gurus available?

...these transmissions quite a bit before I put one in my Barracuda. I read one article about a guy who showed the best way to replace the 2004R filter for racing and heavy use. As it turns out the filter will "suck" air, if you don't take the effort to seal it with silicone around the edges...

    Trans Cooler Help

I used this one on my '69 Barracuda. I have a 2004R with a non lock up torque converter. Non lock ups produce more heat than lock up converters. But I do run the trans fluid through the radiator first. My trans temp never goes above 185. You can't see it at all going down the street, I took...

...and enough compression so it will run on premium gas. The cam will be a high lift/small duration so I can run it with an auto, probably a 2004R. I'm planning on about a 3.91 or thereabouts gear. Head work will depend on the final cam specs. Right now we're leaning toward iron heads but...

Will GM 200r4 work with factory floor shift location?

Yeah, I did pretty good for around here, got one from a low mileage V8 car for $200...My plan is wilcap, and the new US cartool mount... I was gonna do a PIC/info thread at least so people can see one with that adapter.

    1972 Dart LS swap

We are using a 4L60E The engine is as far back as it can go, sits perfect. Only cutting we had to do was on the K frame where the oil pan could sit lower, (I didn't want the engine at a high angle) the transmission wasn't an issue. The hump in the floor isn't an issue at all, which is...

New commercial mount for 2004R transmission

...and found that TCI had the thinnest plate. The thinner the plate the less you have to cut off the cross member because your not "pushing" the 2004R transmission as far toward the rear!! That will definitely make a difference in the location of the trans mount holes in the US Car tool...

Will GM 200r4 work with factory floor shift location?

I installed my modified stock shifter today so that I can get into low gear (2004R) and keep it in low gear for as long as necessary. It all went smoothly, will do a test run in the streets very soon. Treblig

New commercial mount for 2004R transmission

Wait a minute....Wait a minute!!! I thought the whole purpose of going with the 2004R was so that you wouldn't have to cut up the floor???? From what I've seen and read here on FABO, all the Mopar overdrive transmissions require cutting the floor. I personally went with the GM overdrive...

What's the Difference 4" Stroker CRANK??

Bob, you're not totally off topic, I'm the one that mentioned the 2004R. Members always want to know what you're running to give a good answer so I had to stick that in there. I wouldn't say that the 2004R was a pain at all. I don't want to say it was easy but it wasn't hard. The most...

I have a 2004R overdrive in my '69 Barracuda...top speed at 6000 RPM is 180 MPH so, 11 hours one way really isn't that bad but I surely couldn't afford the speeding tickets!!!!LOL treblig

    Throttle and Kickdown Linkage

Here's a few brcakets that I had collected (see pics). In my case I installed a 2004R overdrive in my '69 Barracuda (318, 4 Barrel Eddy). I just mocked it up to be able to use the factory Mopar throttle cable and also hold the 2004R TV cable. It didn't take very long but it depends on your...

    Anyone running overdrive transmission?

...the gas mileage is great!! My car is much more fun and more enjoyable to drive. I'd do it again in a New York Minute!! Somebody already posted a link to the "write up" I did when I was making all the modifications and for the installation. Also good tips on the 2004R mods/upgrades!! treblig

    highway cruising with 4.10 gears

I put a 2004R in my Barracuda and it made a big difference. I'm running 3.90 gears and the best part of all is that the noise level at 65/70 MPH has greatly decreased. Actually I can't hear the exhaust at all. 2300 RPM on the highway should let the motor last a lot longer as well. Oh...
