single turbo thread for an A Body

The basic reason V8 setups use twin turbos is because they have two separate exhaust manifolds on opposite sides of the engine. You can't run a turbo off the exhaust of just one bank of cylinders, and let the other flow free. And the plumbing to bring both exhaust streams together and then route...

1968 Dart sudden rear end noise.

Smallest rear axle in a b body was 8.25 to the best of my knowledge. The 7.25 was a very light duty piece that would last forever behind a slant 6, but it doesn't live as long with a V8, even a bone stock 273 or 318 has enough torque to wear it out. Lots of a bodies had 8.25 differentials, but I...

The topless adventures of Cuda Al

A couple years ago I purchased this car from Max Heim ( @mvh ) Not even four week later I'm on the road to Oregon with the car, overall the car performed good, a little anemic on the hills. This car draws far more attention than my fastback, lots of waves and thumbs up, you can't get gas...

[FOR SALE] 318, small block 904, 170 slant 6 w/ 904, Radiators, BB water pump.

I have a bunch of Mopar parts for sale. And even more stuff that isn't listed yet. I'd consider selling the whole collection for a great price, but you'd need to look at it first. I'm just now just digging into it, but I've got my own stuff and stuff from another collection I bought years ago...

    273 V8 to Slant 6 Swap: 1965 Dart

What parts would I need if I wanted to replace my 1965 273 V8 engine with a 1975 slant 6 engine? The slanty has an auto behind it, while the 273 has a 3 speed on the tree, which I would like to retain. I think it's an A-745 gearbox. Would the Slanty bell housing bolt to the A-745 gear box? If...

    360 radiator hose location

Does the top radiator hose on a 360 run to the driver side on the radiator and the outlet on the bottom of the radiator on the passenger side? That's what I have now with my slant six, I think I have a v8 radiator in there. Thank you.

    Camber Bolt Adjustment

If those are the bars you're going to use, you'll definitely need to raise the car at least an inch. The bump stops on those QA1's are poly, and they are not progressive like the factory bump stops. It will be noticeable when they contact the frame. Most modern cars are north of 200 lb/in...

    1967 Dart Drivetrain swap.

In addition to what you already have, you'll need conversion motor mounts, from Schumacher or TransDapt, a four-speed floor hump (part of the transmission tunnel needs to be cut away and a factory "hump" needs to be welded in. The revised floor will need new four speed specific carpeting also)...

    Radiator hose.

Hi looking to get a new 3 row radiator in my slant six to 360 conversion. I'm noticing that the slanty rad lower hose connection comes out on the passenger side while the v8 replacement comes out on the drivers side . The slanty seems to almost line up with the water pump . Is there a known...

What 8.25 rear axle fits my 1964 Dodge Dart best?

I have no doubt they are "robust" compared to the 7 1/4. Most everything is. lol

[SOLD] Slant six turbo EFI project

I picked this up from a member here, and my plan was to keep it but I need money for my project. $300 shipped from Lacey WA 98503. Factory exhaust manifold with T3 flange welded on. Factory intake grafted onto a pipe with a crown Vic throttle body. Intended to be drilled for injector bungs...

What 8.25 rear axle fits my 1964 Dodge Dart best?

That looks like a very good solution! Would you know a nice one for sale? What I also like is are the 25 spline (in which my axles would probably fit) and the 2.77:1 which give my car the nice 1800 rpm at 60 mph...

What 8.25 rear axle fits my 1964 Dodge Dart best?

well i had to use robust because they are the "little axle that could" materials used were excellent and QA was good perfect low loss axle for hemi 6 and slant 6 racers. light weight, easy to turn big thick ring gear everything from spool through locker to clutch cone and torsen...

Is a 7.25 rear strong enough?

A decent 318 will kill the 7.25 with 205 70r 14s. Been there done that. Know others that have done the same. Takes the spiders out and car needs to be towed. The 7.25 works for slant six cars and should be discarded In most v8 applications as the factory did.

    And So It Begins....

Well, we all know a slant 6 will never be a V8, so trash talking the little motors is pretty childish, because people build them because they love them and love being different. It kills me every time someone new walks up to Vixen and asks before I open the hood.......318? 340? and then I open...

    Best brake booster

Are you looking for a replacement booster for an existing factory power brake system? Or are you adding power to a factory manual brake car? Is it a slant 6 or a V8? If it's a replacement, there are no new ones. Your best bet would be to send it to Booster Dewy and have it rebuilt...

Putting the V8 in. I'm going to keep the /6 drive train so once I am up and running with the 273 I want to get the other items fixed and find a roller to put them in

1962 Valiant Suspension/Brake Swap Options with other A-bodies

Can't run a slant six trans behind a V8. Need a 64-5 small block V8 pushbutton trans and an adapter ring around the torque converter hub to fit in a later V8 crank. Can't remember what year they changed, thinking 68, but will have to look it up. Or someone could chime in before I get a chance...

Dual Exhaust for 360 in '67 Dart

Wow, great stuff, thank you everyone. I think I'm using that Quiet Flow muffler on my slant 6 system now. I use Dutra Duals and have a custom made header down to single 2 1/2" collector. FYI, I had bad resonance/drone right under the driver seat. To fix that, I cut out a 3 ft straight...

Stop in for a cup of coffee

I’m curious as to why people feel it’s cheaper? Having multiple ongoing projects that I bounce between, LA stuff often costs the same as BB stuff, sometimes more, sometimes less. It’s pretty much a wash. I mean brake, t-bar and rear end upgrades all still need to be done in most slant 6 to V8...

    Making kickdown lever for carb

    V/8 Swap

Good thing we all are not holding our breath to see what Mopar Dan has this week… And nothing wrong with V8 swapping a slant. My 70 B5 Duster is a 74 360 swapped car.

Did I mess up buying this rust bucket?

Why not leave it a slant, maybe juiced up a bit and drive and enjoy it. Adding more power from a decent V8 entails more than just a motor swap - better brakes cooling and V8 transmission come to mind.

Anyone look at an XJ cherokee rear end for a BBP conversion?

Hey guys, I'm looking at options for my duster when I do a front disc brake conversion to get the BBP in the rear. I'm reading through the ford 8.8 thread, but I also had an epiphany late last night. I looked it up, and an XJ cherokee has the 5x4.5 bolt pattern, a centered pumpkin, and a...

    Better acceleration?

Can you explain to me what a Wildcat head is. There was a company by the name of Wildcat that manufactured a head for the Rover V8 engines which vastly improved flow. Based in England I believe so they probably did not take notice of the out of production slants.
