Dose anybody have knowledge of what it takes to install a rack in a 68 Dart?

Sure miss the simple repairs of the old Mopars

Looks easier than changing a pressure hose on a front drive rack and pinion.

1964 Valiant "Get Runnin & Drivin"

I just swapped and engine on a 2007 Ford taurus. They assemble the whole driveline on the sub frame and lower the body over it all so some bolts are impossible to get to without dropping the sub frame. I took the front bumper and headlights off for more access.

    how much trouble to....

...box. I looked around and it seems that power steering gear boxes ain't cheap; then I have to get the pump/reservoir and find a bracket to mount it. supposed to be a new box, but there is a not of play before it "catches". I know it's not rack and pinion, but I didn't remember it being so loose.

    3.6 in A-body

if you're into fabricating, why not adapt the long arm coil spring front suspension w/the rack & pinion stg. You'll get the disk brakes, and the handling & steering of the late models. I love the handling and road feel of my 09 Charger PP.

    R&P for A-bodies

There is no “easy” rack and pinion conversion that doesn’t completely hammer the steering geometry on these cars. The older conversions that were out there had terrible Ackerman and bump steer. If you want a rack AND you want to have good steering geometry the full coilover front suspension...

    Tech Advice for Camber Adjustments

I’m not talking about the lower control arm. Everything attached to that rack and pinion is a nightmare. 3” spacers between the steering arms and the rack? The rack significantly out in front of the ends of the steering arms? Welded constructed steering arms that are that thin? Nope. That...

Another Mopar Off My Bucket List - Barracuda Fastback

4&1/2 years was a long time to have gone without updates. Despite a bunch of problems that cropped up during that time I actually DID make progress on several projects. UNFORTUNATELY............ I didn't take many pictures and my memory is so bad that I've probably forgotten most of what...

‘72 Dart - Road Race Resto

Right? Like the coil overs conversions aren't all Mustang II based, making them at best an early 70's design. And of course pretty much all types of suspension go back much further, it's just the execution that's improved. Nothing magic about coil overs, they're just a spring and a shock. And...

    Guide Me Through Manual Steering

:steering: I did it for 3 reasons mainly, weight savings, the rack and pinion, and clearance. We can debate whether it’ll handle better, but I think we’ve done that enough.

Stop in for a cup of coffee

67 mustang coming to have rack and pinion steering installed in a month. But he mentions the fresh engine is developing a lifter tick. Great. Not sure what was done,i do know it has adjustable rockers. Builder had double nuts on it and they loosened. Builder then replaced them with “correct”...
