Dose anybody have knowledge of what it takes to install a rack in a 68 Dart?

Looks easier than changing a pressure hose on a front drive rack and pinion.

I just swapped and engine on a 2007 Ford taurus. They assemble the whole driveline on the sub frame and lower the body over it all so some bolts are impossible to get to without dropping the sub frame. I took the front bumper and headlights off for more access.

...box. I looked around and it seems that power steering gear boxes ain't cheap; then I have to get the pump/reservoir and find a bracket to mount it. supposed to be a new box, but there is a not of play before it "catches". I know it's not rack and pinion, but I didn't remember it being so loose.

You gotta badass channel. What kinda leaf spring locators are those? I really like the multiple holes.

if you're into fabricating, why not adapt the long arm coil spring front suspension w/the rack & pinion stg. You'll get the disk brakes, and the handling & steering of the late models. I love the handling and road feel of my 09 Charger PP.

There is no “easy” rack and pinion conversion that doesn’t completely hammer the steering geometry on these cars. The older conversions that were out there had terrible Ackerman and bump steer. If you want a rack AND you want to have good steering geometry the full coilover front suspension...

:steering: I did it for 3 reasons mainly, weight savings, the rack and pinion, and clearance. We can debate whether it’ll handle better, but I think we’ve done that enough. :rofl:

67 mustang coming to have rack and pinion steering installed in a month. But he mentions the fresh engine is developing a lifter tick. Great. Not sure what was done,i do know it has adjustable rockers. Builder had double nuts on it and they loosened. Builder then replaced them with “correct”...

Yes I have qa1 double adjustable coil overs for the front as the torsionbars are gone. I now have manual rack and pinion as well
