Want the whole harness repopped for 70 a body. The b body I posted is really close to mine I have now. I don’t see a repop for 70 a body specifically. Just the pigtail or 69 a body and below. Probably could make it with a new pigtail, but was hoping for a premade one.

Here is before…. It needs a new lower bearing… noisy… but at least there is a bearing there like I wanted… and it’s a know part and can be replaced. I greased it best I could… it’ll have to do for now.

Basically I have a 70 upper column and 73/4/5/6 lower column.

It worked fine and I used my 70 upper column housing and ignition switch and all the guts at the top and that stuff. Works perfect. The bottom mounting plate is different… only 2 mounting points at the studs…. No 3 mounting point and the 70 bracket won’t fit … but it mounted right up regardless.

The short of it is… yes the needle bearing I found will work it you mill the outside diameter down… especially all the way and not like me where it got stuck in the tube and I couldn’t get it back out to mill down more…. So I got pissed and took a hammer to it and collapsed the column. Go me...

I got the one off eBay and already picked it up. Looks like my 70 upper housing pieces will go right on. Overall this is a better design if you as me with the bearing held by the spring in the shift tube. This was what I was trying to do with my 70 column. Long story short …. It collapsed...

so the one on ebay looks like a 75/6 column and not 73 as stated. wondering if it would still work though and I can just change over my 70 bits like the mounting bracket and maybe the ignition housing, etc. so i can keep the same key. 73 DART MOPAR A BODY TAN AUTO STEERING COLUMN W/ KEY OEM...

Also looks like the bottom under dash mounting bracket is a bit different then the 70 with only two mounting points… wonder if my old one will transfer over to the 73?

The center shaft doesn’t matter. I’d just have to cut the linkage bits that go to the steering rack of the Reilly bits. By key interlock… are you say my ignition switch wouldn’t transfer over so I could use the old key? There is a 73 column with power steering on eBay….

I have Reilly front suspension, so it wouldn’t matter about length. I’d just have to redo the linkage to the rack. But it would be nice to be able to reuse my good ignition switch and not have to redo my linkage.

What year steering columns will fit a 70 swinger? It’s a column shifted power steering car. Will a 73 work?

gonna try the MR 16 SRS double sealed roller bearing see what happens. i'll post the findings....if it works....guess that will fix the 1 other person that needs it 10 years from now LOL

a bearing is what i'm looking for. something more permanent and wont wear as fast. what you linked is one that uses set screws i believe and i don't think that works in a 70 column.

inside of column shift tube is 1.40" (ish) .... hard to measure with the shaft going down the middle. when I corrected the delrin bushing in the kit to fit in there.....I tappered it from 1.40" at the tip to 1.47" at the base.... so it would press in. it fits nicely and hasn't come off. the...
