NAILED IT! Wrong gaskets. Port window to small for starters, metal thin gaskets for OEM 318/273 heads. Edelbrock gaskets are .063 thick. Fel-Pro 1213 are .0635/.0640 thick. Metal OEM style 318 gaskets are .0150 thick. Port window offset shown below.

tap the outer holes for a 7/16 thread and use a 3/8-7/16 combo stud. on the original (Carter bp) holes, use a socket head cap screw (or is it called allen head cap screw?) and a reamer to drill down below the mounting surface. that way, the head will sit flush or below the upper carb mounting...

Do the bores in that plate fit the Holly? In other words, will the butterflies open on the Holly with that spacer? At the bare minimum you would have to cut those studs down that are existing in the manifold. Not sure if the pads on the four corners of your holly will come into contact with...

I ran one on my Edelbrock headed 340, it took a bit of work to port match, but it worked well. IMHO, it's borderline small for a stout stroker, that's why I recommended the Victor. The Victor that I ran on my 408 took a ton of grinding to port match, it had a lot of core shift.
