I don't think the metal shim gasket is supposed to be used with the Edelbrock aluminum intakes. I mean nothing is stopping you from doing it, but I had to buy new and much thicker composite gaskets because it was recommended.

Could do it with Bloomer heads. They make great power Not sure how much a 2.08 valve would be shrouded, but high lift 230@50 roller, 13 to 1 compression, good intake and carb, good ring pack, think it could be done pretty easily.

If you are serious about making power like a late model engine you need to disabuse yourself of the notion that a Chrysler head with standard rockers is worth spending a nickel on. If you want to build a 500 hp 318 with a small cam you use W2 heads or better. Anything else is just expensive...

For your build, I would recommend an Edelbrock AVS2-650 carb. Super reliable, excellent low speed response and you'll get decent fuel economy. The Performer intake is an excellent choice as well.

Find the next size larger NPT thread. Use a vaccum or grease on the drill to catch the chips. When tapping, pack grease in the flutes to catch the chips. Keeps then out of the cooling system. Install the bushing with a PST paste sealer. Then the same for the sender. The paste fills the gaps...

Old thread, my 66 Dart has the clifford setup/intake,aluminum valve cover,headers, stewart warner gauges, all was done in 2003. Not by me. Except for the new Edelbrock 500 I put on 3 months ago to replace the old 500. Whoever did the car, did it right.

I would put the correct Carter on it or a new Edelbrock copy.
