Having done two 1973-76 A body disc brake swaps onto 1966 down cars; it's 99% plug 'n' play using the upper control arms/lower ball joints from the donor vehicle along with a matching 5 on 4.5" rear end. The only modifications I had to make were installing different brake tubing nuts to match up...

For the record: IF we're going to squabble over non factory mods on an A body; then it should be 'illegal' to install a 1967 up dual chamber drum brake master cylinder onto a 1966 down model with the same size drums........... Another modification could be 3 point seatbelts since the B pillars...

FYI: all 1966 A bodies have 'V8' centerlinks, even the Slant Six models.

That severe cowl rust is just weird considering the quarter panels and floor pan are quite solid.............

Yes and no. Apparently all 1966 A's had the 'drop down' AKA 'V8' style center link.

Having personally done two 1973+ A body disc brake swaps onto narrow bodies; I had no bump steer issues at all, maybe because I kept the Torsion bars at stock height. :)

I just hope the BMW driver got in some real trouble..............

Poly bell bolt pattern? Maybe a 273-318LA-340-360 bellhousing would bolt up as well? :angel5:

Many years ago while still stuck living in the Wash DC area I had a 1967 Dodge Dart 4 door with the following options: 273-2V AT PS manual disc brakes 14" tires HD suspension with a front sway bar factory AC silver body with a black vinyl roof and red cloth interior AM radio remote controlled...

Side note here: the only RWD Imperials with rear disc brakes were the 1974-75 models.

You are correct: but, apparently, the disc brake lower ball joints will fit in lieu of the drum brake pieces on a 1972 down drum brake vehicle.

I believe all 1962-72 drum brake A bodies all used the same upper and lower ball joints. Supposedly; the same years disc brake lower joints will work as well on drum brake spindles but are stronger.

On another forum I mentioned that I have a lead on a 1966 Dodge dart locally. Car has a Slant Six (probably a 225) with a 3 spd on the column. Clutch is history and such being the case; I plan to bolt up an all synchro 3 gear from a 1970's A-F-M body to do away with the 'crash box' low...

Trust me: if I indeed get the car and switch out the OEM 3 spd; I would have no problem pitching that Trunnion driveline at all for a true double U joint style piece. :toothy10:

For the record: the 340 horsepower rating (5.7L) and 425 HP numbers (6.1L) are net figures..........the gross/brakeHP specs are probably more like 400 for the smaller Hemi and 500+ for the 6.1L SRT-8 mill. :drinkers:
