    318 power!

I did and threw them away. They were free to me. I would never do that. That’s you! I rarely… what a bummer…. Even so, on a driver, absolutely an everyday car like any other car on the road today, the 302 head would not make it on top of my engine. If it does yours, OK fine, whatever, IDGAF...

    Maybe I've learned a good lesson . . .

I would t touch an iron head for a 318. I’d use an Edelbrock head straight away. You’ll be way ahead dollar wise and head flow wise.

    Maybe I've learned a good lesson . . .

I've been reading 318 threads; most recently the one about XE cams. 14 years ago I bought a 68 Charger that still had the original 2 barrel, 318 w/904. My initial intent was to put it back on the road and sell it. This was before I knew anything about forums, nor could I really interpret what...

How to get 400 hp out of 1971 340 .30 over

Here's the dyno of that 340, stock on the left fully modded on the right, modded gains from 3000-6200 rpms (everywhere dyno'd) and a 50 lbs-ft gain right at 3000 rpm, by the looks of it probably some gains under 3000 rpm. Phase 1: Stock 340 baseline, Chrysler electronic ignitionPhase 2: Replace...

    650 or 750 Edelbrock on 340

Hey Folks, In the process of putting the top end of the 340 back together. 72 Duster, 340, J-Heads w 2.02 intake, 727 w/RMVB, 3500 stall, 4.30 gears. The motor has what appears to be a decent cam (Unknown grind but really comes alive as the rpms increase), .30 over KB 1267 10.2 pistons...

Poll for Minimum Torque for a performance street Machine?

On the dyno a stock 340 only dyno'd 328 lbs-ft with bolt-ons got up to 411, it's safe to say a stock 340 is a performance engine. https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/mopp-0102-1970-340-high-performance-mill-dyno/ Phase 1: Stock 340 baseline, Chrysler electronic ignitionPhase 2: Replace small...

    360 intake fit problem??

NAILED IT! Wrong gaskets. Port window to small for starters, metal thin gaskets for OEM 318/273 heads. Edelbrock gaskets are .063 thick. Fel-Pro 1213 are .0635/.0640 thick. Metal OEM style 318 gaskets are .0150 thick. Port window offset shown below.

Stop in for a cup of coffee

Wonder if that’s the same WCFB base that my poly intake has. If so, speedway motors has the correct adapter to go from that base to a 4150/4160 for less than 20 bucks

Stop in for a cup of coffee

tap the outer holes for a 7/16 thread and use a 3/8-7/16 combo stud. on the original (Carter bp) holes, use a socket head cap screw (or is it called allen head cap screw?) and a reamer to drill down below the mounting surface. that way, the head will sit flush or below the upper carb mounting...

Stop in for a cup of coffee

Do the bores in that plate fit the Holly? In other words, will the butterflies open on the Holly with that spacer? At the bare minimum you would have to cut those studs down that are existing in the manifold. Not sure if the pads on the four corners of your holly will come into contact with...

Stop in for a cup of coffee

Any ideas out there for an adapter to fit my Holley 4160 to this cast iron intake 2536771? The Edelbrock carb matches to the studs, but the Holley is too big. This is the spacer I currently have

    I THINK I KILLED THE 340

Couple things. As mentioned a thicker head gasket could be your answer. As to your question how much was the block cut. It isn't really the right question. Your machinist is right that the twisted block would require taking more off one end than the other to bring the deck in parallel to the...
