    Looking for professional engine builder/machinist

Wow, Deja Vu. I felt the same. Had two builds, first was an X block build, broke the block. Then the clock started again with the R3.

2024 15th Annual FABO NASCAR "Pick 'Em" Game - One More Time!!!

I had a great weekend, and I didn't move a spot  Been a tough year in a lot of ways, but we're all here. I think there's going to be massive fines to several people from yesterday's race. The #'s 23,1,3 should get some "nobody better ever do this again" type money fines. Seen this ****...

    Metal in oil

Best if you don’t let it idle, as soon as you get oil pressure it’s best to keep it in the 2000 rpm range as that is where you get the best lubrication to your bearings. It’s also best to avoid short drives as you need to heat the oil to rid it of moisture and water. Moisture kills oil and...

    Eric's cam challenge

I don’t know another way to say it. Did you think about it? Let’s just look at the exhaust valve. I’m just pulling a number out of my *** but let’s say there is 500 psi in the chamber 1 degree before the valve opens. Now move the valve .006 off the seat. What happens to the pressure? Stop...

    Looking for professional engine builder/machinist

Same exact thing. Almost a year, I think he actually forgot he had my block and parts for awhile. Nice enough guy but shitty communication when you’re building a $1X,000 engine. I even started thinking maybe I did something and he didn’t like me. It was weird. Maybe if it was a $20,000+ build...

    [WANTED] Climate control assembly 1984’

Long shot but I’m looking for a climate control assembly for this 84’ van I’m playing with. Current one is busted up 6 ways of Sunday. I believe all the switches work on mine so if you have just a solid black frame work - that would be good. Thank you- Syleng1

I have some good news for me anyway. My youngest son will be out of prison in January, which is way early but he's a role model in prison and should never have gone there in the first place. He has to stay with me for his first year and then he can move on.

    EPAS Electric Power Steering install

This is exactly what I was thinking about doing as I have a Megasquirt, a Raspberry Pi, and an Arduino all three in my car. The Arduino is set up to run a small column mounted display and the Pi is more like an infotainment system that runs the tuning software, navigation, and media. I'll be...

Was just woken at 11:30 our mountain is burning and has gotten worse.

I saw what you said, and it's untrue. I didn't address the hurricane response because that's not what this thread is about, but if you insist- the entire alphabet soup of federal agencies is down in the hurricane areas, that's both obvious and easy to confirm. We had USAR teams deployed from...

    Which spacer is best?

Wow, more than headers . Add an "x" or "h" pipe, gain 40 hp total .

I don't know about that, I like getting all worked up and having a temper tantrum driving in heavy traffic. Just kidding..

    Eric's cam challenge

The 0.006 figure is a close guestimate figure to when a hydraulic lifter goes solid.
  21. jbc426

    Which spacer is best?

Wilson makes one of the best. My builder says its worth 15-20 hp on virtually every engine the put it on.

    Eric's cam challenge

The annular area is tiny at 0.006". Don't you think that this is the point where you can say that the valve has moved off of the seat and gives the largest duration number? Its the marketing duration point.
  23. NoCar340

stupid question how do you get these stainless wiper arms off?

A lot of the Anco stuff disappeared when Trico bought them. The 41-03 is one of 'em. I run an Auto Value store, so I can assure you that particular link is outdated and no stock exists.

    Compression Ratio and Boost Query

Great point. I don't have enough room for an air-to-air or air-to-water intercooler, so I am using a "Chiller"(similar to the Hellcat system), which uses the A/C Freon to cool the water circuit and spraying straight methanol to drop the air intake charges. The straight methanol can drop the air...
