    Bore size will have an effect, on 2.02" or small valves probably not gonna make huge difference especially at the power levels (cfms) most are trying to get out of a 318 250-400 hp

    I agree, 15-20ish. Main issue is, where it really helps, the stock 318 cam is too rpm limited.

    1st what are you trying to get out of the 318, power and rpm wise ? A 318 just gonna need more rpm and gearing than a similarly built 360 Eg. 400 hp is around 5400 rpms for a 360 and 6000 rpms for a 318.

    Then as a 318 owner myself.. i will say... go on market place and find a 360.... you will have much more torque and power for much less money.. on a good day you can find one for $300ish.. put in a cam and intake and you will probably be in the same range as the 318 with heads/cam/intake...

    very good numbers for that build , best I ever did with my 72 318 back in 74 was a 14.8 1/4 mile which was respectable . all it had was cut heads 340 cam headers and a therrmoquad and holley street dominator intake 3:55 gears and crap G78 polyglass tires

    AJ's Opinions; for the Teener Street guys. You know; zero to 60 and a decent cruise rpm.

    The only 318 build i was involved in was 340 heads and intake with a crane fireball cam, sounded good but an old lady in a wheel chair could of beat it I a 1 block race. We were young kids and didn't have a clue, remember that like yesterday, ugg!

    It just will not work! Call any cam mfg. and ask them. He would be much better off just using a stock 318 cam. I'll bet he could get one on here for free + shipping. You are giving the man the wrong info.

    Does this engine sound healthy? I have no prior knowledge of the cam or any other upgrades to the engine. Only thing I've done was swap the intake and carb to a 4bbl. Drives great but warms up to around 230 in traffic. Will cool down to 180 when I'm able to step on it. 727 trans 3.73 diff it...

    If your short of 400 hp doubt it will be by much, if you look a the basic 318 400 hp recipe it's 10:1, airgap, magnum heads or something on par and a 230° ish cam, your short on cr but are porting the heads.
