    Transmission oil

Yup... The A-833 had large gears and as the temperature got colder below 40 degrees it was harder to shift the gears. Mopar made that recommendation in multiple places, attached is a lift from the 1970 Plymouth Service Manual. But in Southern California, where the temperature typically stays...

    Transmission oil

"If shift effort becomes extremely high..." Being in Mini-scrotum you probably know this all too well, but for those in warmer climes who aren't aware: Shifting an A833 full of SAE140 on a -25°F morning is a lot like trying to kayak through wet concrete.

Butters "Winter Upgrades". . Starting a Little Early

Just piddled today.. Stripped the old motor down to a longblock and started cleaning on the replacement.. I'll run gun bore cleaners through all the oil passes tomorrow. Might set the crank and double check rod to block clearance. I've been collecting things for this build for a while...

    WHAT GOES HERE?

Thanks for the reply. I have dimples in the location of the factory tach wire in your pic. The hole I am referring to is just above and to the left of the parking brake cable grommet.

Butters "Winter Upgrades". . Starting a Little Early

I cut at 49" and I believe I removed 8" of the top plate at the rear. I used 3/8x2x5 for the front plates.. 1/4 would've been fine but 3/8 is what I had. 49" left the rear subframe hole open on the bottom for drainage,

    RIP Wally Booth

Wally passed away on Tuesday, 11/12/2024 at the age of 87. I consider him to be one of the kindest and most respected racers that ever lived. I was fortunate to have spent time with Wally and always enjoyed talking with him. Wallace Elston "Wally" Booth Obituary (2024) - Troy, MI - A.J...

What was the year that the A body cars had this feature?

This design with the power input and output mounted to a more positive terminal…. It sure seemed like a better design than the one that followed.

OzyDuster74 full rebuild and hemi conversion!!

i redrilled the torsion bar crossmember closer to the centre so the park brake cable would be 'inside' the frame connector when i got round to fitting them. no need to notch the connector that way. neil.

Hey, Dantheman you are just late to the party

Glad we agree. Think the best way is to stick the lid to base with 3-M tape. I have some used to reattach moulding on new cars. I will need it undamaged. That way I can use it on one of the cars you pass on, when I buy it.

63 Dodge Dart, now let me see;)

You can see where it stops on the left side just under that shift rod. Then, all there is is the bare top of the upper cross member. At least, that's what I'm seeing.

    904 Tail Shaft Seal Selection?

I started working in the Transmission parts industry in 1980. We had back then the 727 seals with or without the dust boot. The early 904's were non booted. We were at the time a distributor of Natpro a large transmission parts distibutor and that was our main source of parts. Chrysler part...

    Moog camber kit junk?

No, no damage from cutting the old ones out. Retired steel worker here. I've got a handle on a cutting rig. But I will say this. The Moog bolts are too short. After removing them today, I see that the eccentric washer never made it to the actual shoulder of the bolt itself. It spun on the...
