    360 oil pan

Here is a picture of the baffle in a Milodon stock replacement oil pan you can see how simple it would be to fab something similar to add into a cheap Summit replacement pan. All that said, if this is the engine you were talking about running with a turbocharger I would be inclined to suggest a...

    72 Dart sunoco style hood

Check out the excellent build thread by @SwingerLSX75 who had Glasstek do his hood. Maybe he can chime in to see if he is happy with it now that it has been on there a while. Around post 823 is where the Sunoco style hood gets put on. Red Headed Stepchild-75 Swinger LSX Swap

    Reusing 195k lifters?

The hydraulic part can be disassembled for cleaning, yes. Just a snap ring. The roller wheel is not meant to be disassembled, so you just inspect, feel, clean, and run them if ok.

    Reusing 195k lifters?

If the rollers are clean and smooth and you know the engine ran well with no lifter noise I would not hesitate to reuse the factory lifters on a build like that. I would not reuse the factory valves in those heads. If they are the good NZ castings find some good valves. If the original valves...

Pulling Engine/Trans over the winter....Header Question??

Mine is the one that has the sides of the pan angled outward as is comes down. The one that interferes with the k-frame at the right front of the oil pan, and k-frame has to be notched to clear it. With all that shape the pan hits the k-frame on both sides and the trans is jammed up against the...

Pulling Engine/Trans over the winter....Header Question??

Do you have an oversized aftermarket oil pan or a stock replacement center sump style? On mine I have a 360 with a Milodon 7 quart oil pan. There was not enough room to get the engine and transmission in without getting stuck between the k-frame and the trans tunnel. I had to separate mine and...

    [Found!] B&M 10241 Flex Plate

Can you clarify what you are looking for. Is your engine a LA 360 or Magnum 5.9 engine? The B&M 10241 is for Magnum balance. Mancini racing is supposedly selling a version of this 10241 for Magnums. Their website listings are mixed up so have to call them and be very specific about which engine...

    Oil pump intermediate shaft breaking

At this point post a picture of your broken intermediate shafts. It does not take much in the oil pump to jam it up and cause the intermediate shaft to twist the tip off. There is a lot of stress there when the pump stops and the camshaft is still turning. It can be a tiny but of trash easily...

    cleaning a toilet help needed!

I don't think I took a picture of mine before but it was pretty bad like that one. Nothing was touching that staining but the Lysol Lime and Rust I posted did it. Give it a try. I am curious to see if it works as good for you.

    cleaning a toilet help needed!

Did you end up getting this cleaned up? I just randomly bought some Lysol Lime and Rust cleaning gel because it was on sale. The regular Lysol toilet cleaner does not touch the rust stains here but this Lime and Rust gel is AWESOME! Follow the directions of drying the bowl so the gel can do...

Quick, probably dumb questions from a transmission novice

Then there is one more little seal inside the rooster comb that seals the shaft for the throttle pressure/kick down.

Quick, probably dumb questions from a transmission novice

Removing the valve body allows cleaning up the surface that shift seal rides on. Just remove the e-clip, washer, and rooster comb assembly but make sure you don’t lose the shift detent ball and spring.

Quick, probably dumb questions from a transmission novice

The park lock is easy if the vehicle is up on stands (wheels off the ground) and you have someone rotate the driveshaft while you are pushing the park lock rod into the transmission case. It is putting pressure on the park pawl and will pop into place easiest when the park pawl can fully engage...

Quick, probably dumb questions from a transmission novice

There is no "gasket" between the valve body and the transmission case on a 904 or 727. There is just a steel separator plate that is part of the valve body. I think that is what you are referring to. No special process or precautions other than make sure it is clean and no big deep scratches or...

Should i even bother with with getting a higher compression ratio?

Stock valve springs are pretty weak. An upgraded cam on the stock springs will be ok at lower RPM but will get into valve float easily. Not really worth it. Max lift on the Magnum with stock pistons usually comes down to the clearance between the retainer and guide, or more realistically the...

Quick, probably dumb questions from a transmission novice

Remove the valve body. It is not very difficult in a Mopar 904 or 727 and no check balls fall out. It is fairly difficult to get the old seal out while the transmission is in the car and valve body is still in place. Not much room to work above it. You already have to remove the...

Should i even bother with with getting a higher compression ratio?

Time to figure out the entire build plan and budget. If you do not intend to have any work done on the cylinder heads and do not intend to replace the cylinder heads I would not personally bother with the cost of new pistons and rings and cost to balance that rotating assembly. I would...

    440-1 flow numbers

The Trick Flow 240 has a 2.19 intake valve and I still do not know for sure if they are a different casting than the 270. Also I wonder what the minimum cross section is on the 240 head and if the gains of opening up to max wedge port size would be worth the effort. Of course, being able to do...

    Flexplate orientation/Transmission to engine mounting?

It looks like you are putting together a four wheel drive truck application, so I would put those brackets back in for added support against flexing. Not sure about early trucks, but the mid 70s and later trucks don't usually get the oil filter angle adapter. The right side bracket is usually...

    440-1 flow numbers

So bad out of the box? Oh man, crushing my dreams. So this brings up more questions. Is there a specific reason or area in the port he considers them "bad" like the shape of the short turn or maybe lack of effort in the valve job? Or is it more of a max effort gives you so much more kind of...

    La360 and 727

You say you just pulled the 904. Did it have a torque converter? What level of modifications does the 360 engine have? Is it mostly stock? if your 904 has the converter and it is neutral balance for the 318 it was behind, you can bolt it right up to the 360 engine using a flex plate that has...

Guess my age! I mean mileage!!

Most of the factory 5.2 and 5.9 Magnum heads had seats cut right into the head casting itself, so there is no seat insert to drop out. However, there was a few vehicles originally sold to run on compressed natural gas and those heads supposedly got hardened valve seat inserts installed, so those...

    5.9L Magnum questions

If you do choose to grind or cut the spring seats, do not go any deeper. There is not much material thickness under that area. The easiest fit is the Magnum specific spring kits available like the Hughes Engines kit mentioned by @autopar3000 in the previous post.
