road car cam for my 318

that's a decent little cam for a run around. i've run that with a 1.6 rockers and it was a nice little mill with the added lift to that duration.

    Stroke a 318

there are several 318/390's on here that rev fine, as mentioned it's more to do with heads/cam/induction. at the end of the day the 392 will only be 0.050" under what's considered the 'majic' 4" bore of a 360 so not what you could really call a small bore anyway. neil.

It depends on "WHO" is driving the thing. For "one of us" for instance, it wouldn't be a problem. But we have some on here who think driving a three on the tree is a chore.

Making power out of the 318

Well... they took this to a monster 3.95 and made 400 with basically a cam and intake.... so this bore thing might pan out :) https://www.motortrend.com/how-to/ccrp-0401-mopar-318-engine/

road car cam for my 318

He may be retired by now but the guy that runs Oregon Cam gives great advice. His name slips my mind right now. He’s a wealth of information. Oregon Cam is still in business.

road car cam for my 318

2000 rpm at 75? Don't use a cam with any performance designed into it. With the OD and those gears most any cam but a stock spec one will be too much. (generally speaking)

    My cam numbers!

...the extra 7* are NOT helping whereas the extra 15* overlap is. IMO, this is a pretty good trade off for most of us. And finally, here is a 318 cam, in at 108; 240/132/120/248/20* overlap/Ica of 48*. This is about the smallest cam ever. Notice the Power extraction is 120*, and overlap is...

Steve Dulcich on building a budget 318

I don't like this strawman argument, Anti 318ers make it sound these people want to build a 450-650 hp 318. It's like 90% of the 318 threads is adding cam and 4bbl maybe headers and some even want to do something about the heads, wanting something like 250-350 hp, that's like asking 300-400 hp...

IM surprised by Richard Holdeners 360 Magnum camshaft swap.......

Here are the numbers I got from having a 2000 Ram 5.9 cam run through the Cam Doctor at Bullet Cams: Duration @ 0.050: I/E 189*/194* Lobe separation angle: 111* Lift @ cam: I/E 0.273"/0.278" Valve lift w/ 1.6 rockers: I/E 0.437”/0.445”

Steve Dulcich on building a budget 318

He done at least 3 different 400 hp 318 builds basically 225-245 cams, 9.7-10.5:1 cr, airgap headers, one with magnum heads one with ported 302 heads with 2.02 and one with older EQ then ported them out for 425 hp and and one just added xe262h cam and 4bbl and headers on stock low cr 318 for 282 hp.

Steve Dulcich on building a budget 318

yes but compression police say you lose putting 2.02 jhead on 68 318 and thats true but they have never run it the flow matters more cam 484/carb/intake etc then spray erases the comp lost by another 130 hp and gives you loads of low end cheap easy fun

    LSA Question

I've ran all 3 in 318's. Yes, they'll make a difference, but, neither of those offer any more off idle stomp than the 318 2bbl cam, results are seen once you get it going. I've had 318's that took some getting used to for a new driver because they would lay rubber at the tap of the gas, and...

This video wasn't too bad to watch, he said the cam specs for the 318 should be accurate within a degree or so, sounds like it's should pretty accurate to me.

How about follow 318willrun’s 318 car that performs somehow even though some say you can’t add a cam carb etc.. to no stall and gears and get results.

Need recommendation for a Carb for better MPG!

I love this! I too put 27" tires on the back. I just might consider trying try this after I do the tune up depending upon how things go. Not sure how to get a 318 cam yet. THANK YOU! 380 miles on a tank would be awesome!

    Blown head gasket

Seems I blew a head gasket. Loosening head bolt I noticed two close to the break in gasket were looser than the others. My set up has 11:1 compression with .039 compressed head gasket. I have cometic but they are .020 and will raise compression to 11.6:1. I have aluminum heads. Will this be an...

Headers for 67 barracuda 318 with no modifications

Why bother, AFAIK there are only two good reasons for to run a header, namely; Scavenging and Inertial tuning; neither of which are desirable on a stock 318. The stock cam has like 20* of overlap, so scavenging is not gonna occur. Inertial tuning sure but to what effect? You are likely...

    Edelbrock Victor small block head……

I was using the same cam that is now in the 340, .513int/.498exh and I've already checked the PTV clearance when I put it all together, I don't remember the numbers anymore but there was plenty all the way through the cycle of the cam.

Is building a stroked 318 better than a stroked 340/360?

I say build the 318. Terry Brighton racing built a 318 stroker with Trick Flow heads, air gap, Lunati 243/251 VooDoo hydraulic roller cam. Made 535/535. Pretty much equal to 360 strokers give or take a few.

road car cam for my 318

Since I don't know/understand much about picking a camshaft, my engine rebuilder suggested this Melling: He said it would be a good choice for my ice cream parlor cruiser (.030 over original 318, LD4B intake, 1406 carb, MP electronic ignition, factory exhaust manifolds, FlowMaster 40s, 2 1/4"...

    Sixpack on a 318 engine ?

Cam, compression, and intake. 318's, like the 2V 302 and 305 suffered from an emissions cam, low intake valve lift. They also had low compression. Install quench heads with zero deck pistons to get compression and efficient combustion, a cam in the 220°@ 0.050" lift and 0.500 valve lift, and a...

SBE 318 basic rebuild +CAM , INTAKE, HEADS, expectations?

Summer almost done, I do the 440 swap over the winter and have a badass car for spring, there's no way I'd pick a 318 over a 440 if that was the choice, I've have nothing against 318's but to me that's a pretty easy choice, even would choose the 440 over a 360. For a street car, most self...
