    Edelbrock Victor small block head……

Well my oil pressure and delivery issue has been solved. Did some searching on YouTube and stumbled on this video here. Took my intake manifold off and sure enough, I hadn't put that plug in as I didn't even know about it. But now the engine is running nice and quiet and oil pressure is 25ish...

Is there any chance you'd be able to show pictures of the modification you did?

I have a 68 340 block with 4 bolt mains that was done before I got the thing. To my knowledge the oil passages and such are still stock

    About 1500 miles

I'm just running the stock oiling passages, seems to get oil to the rocker shaft via all 5 mounting holes for the rocker shaft. Could you provide pictures?

How does one go about doing this? I'm idling at about 10-15 psi and about 25psi above 2000

    Edelbrock Victor small block head……

What kind of oil pressure are you getting during idle and RPM?

I was using the same cam that is now in the 340, .513int/.498exh and I've already checked the PTV clearance when I put it all together, I don't remember the numbers anymore but there was plenty all the way through the cycle of the cam.

I don't have any other pictures of the indents on the other pistons but they were all colliding

    Edelbrock Victor small block head……

You could probably guess by the second picture but those pistons USED to be flat tops lol

    Edelbrock Victor small block head……

Id love to say but I never got it all to work quite right before it broke a valve and literally punched a hole through piston 3. This bending of pushrods has been an ongoing problem even with that 318.

Also the fact that the heads themselves have "Victor" punched into them, the pictures might not be clear enough to see though.

    Edelbrock Victor small block head……

Yes I am 100% sure I have the Victor heads, they're unmistakable.

Dually noted, thanks for stopping me before it's too late.

    Edelbrock Victor small block head……

So over the past day or two now I've read Mike's articles on valvetrain geometry and about raising the rocker shafts and such. It had dawned on me that when I got the rocker kit from Hughes, it came with shims for that very thing. I found them last night and plan to put them in and see if things...

I can look into a set of 3/8 pushrods, any reccomendations on wall thickness while I'm at it?

    Edelbrock Victor small block head……

Nobody, I was trying to achieve as high of compression as I could with the 318 naturally aspirated as I could and those heads had the smallest chambers so that's what I went with. I ended up getting that sucker up to 11.43:1 CR in the end. Reason I was after compression was because i was trying...

I'm in agreeance, I think its geometry related as well. As for why the hydraulic roller build? Well that's because when I got the heads back in 2018 from Summit Racing, the only set of these heads they had in stock at the time where the ones set up for a hydraulic roller cam, so at that point my...

    Edelbrock Victor small block head……

I had a machine shop look at the heads and even replace all the valves too because the 318 I had them on before broke a valve and had bent most of the others too(poor clearance in the bore). Like I mentioned before, the engine was still on its break-in period so high revving was off the table...

I currently have center/standard lifter seats, haven't had much luck finding offset ones. I am running hydraulic roller lifters. Yes I am using the Hughes roller rocker set and have verified the correct rockers are in the correct locations. I don't know the spring loads. Cam is a Thumper with...

I have yet to exceed 5 I have yet to really put the hammer down on it as it is still a fresh build and was about to do its first oil change(since break in) in the next week or so.

Hey guys, I read everything that was discussed on this thread and can't believe that its still an active feed haha. Anyway, I've had a set of these Victor heads since 2018. Had them on a 318 and now a 340 bored and stroked to 422 ci. The heads themselves are great but I keep having problems with...

Slow Crank, No Start When Warm

I did that test a bit ago where disable spark and try turning it over after the engine was heated up. No change, still very slow crank, took out the spark plugs and it turned over free and clear so that leads me to believe it's not an internal issue such as bearings

Slow Crank, No Start When Warm

No, you're the first to make mention of a possibly too small battery.

Slow Crank, No Start When Warm

Voltage drop when cold between starter+ and battery+ while cranking was 0.94 and between battery- and starter case was 0.36. I didn't even bother warming it up. Would this be bad connections or wires?

Slow Crank, No Start When Warm

Alright, ill look into getting some 2/0 welding cable. I'll be sure to post weather or not that was the problem. Thanks
  28. T. Fritz

Slow Crank, No Start When Warm

I might end up needing to run larger cable than 2/0 then as I have a high output alternator putting out around 215 amps
  29. T. Fritz

Slow Crank, No Start When Warm

Is it cheaper than buying it from somewhere like Summit?

Slow Crank, No Start When Warm

Alright I'll look into getting all new cables, 2/0 is the size I need?
