OzyDuster74 full rebuild and hemi conversion!!

Oz - For “final” assembly I checked the fit for my engine, transmission, steering box, dipstick tube, starter and exhaust for my 440 on my k-frame sitting on blocks on the garage floor. I did not need to do exhaust and steering box when I put it in the car the last time, but just as easily...

    My 1969 1/2 440 ‘cuda

That line is difficult to see in the quarter and fades away. When they did the block sanding on my car I made sure they knew it was there. They put tape above the line and sanded up to it; then put tape below the line and sanded down to it. This way they did not diminish, move, or erase the...

FYI - noticed body work in these areas. Added these on mine to stiffen, never liked how much the metal flexed. Make sure the fit is matched before tightening down, read a post once where guy saw it distorted metals when he tightened it down door handle. No telling if it was an issue with his...

Random part post. This arrived today. Test fit. Maybe this weekend I’ll get a chance to make some brackets. Then I can route and measure the hoses. “Power steering cooler”. Little black plate cooler on the left. It isn’t much wider than it is tall.

Maybe too tight? I wonder if something flexes at load. Serpentine belts tighten on one side at RPM. That is why they should really be designed with a true tensioner. I had a buddy that put one on his 350 Chevy back in the early 90's without a tensioner and it bent his water pump first time...

    Headers vs. Manifolds

Yeah, when it is 105 with 80%+ humidity and someone pours out a bucket of slag and the air temp goes to 140+ it is brutal, just hang there in your harness for a minute with the heat soaking through you, then you feel the humidity roll back in. Back to work. Was glad when we finished that tower...

    Headers vs. Manifolds

I spent a month or so building a cooling tower next to the steel mill in Seguin in 1993. 100F+, high humidity, and every hour or so they would pour slag out on the ground near where we were working. That was special.

Heat index this afternoon hit 103, so where was I? In the garage. Printed a template to use for guiding the cut and trimmed a hole in an old broken bezel as a test. Fit the control panel prototype. I really like how it has come out. Next step is to work up the courage to cut the new...

You want the engine oil temperature to come up quickly, the advantage to using a cooler in the radiator is that your engine thermostat will help that along. I am plumbing an external air cooled oil cooler on my car but it has a 205F thermostat that bypasses 90% of the flow when the temperature...
