273 Engine will not start - Ideas?

you also might want to revisit the timing work or turn the distributor a bit while cranking and see what happens. this could also help you if the chain has jumped.

    Adding timing chain tensioner

All good suggestions. This is the tensioner being used on another build. The guy said while it's not necessary it does keep the chain tight and timing on point when the chain starts to stretch. I'll decide later if I want to add one to a Cloyes double roller. Not sure there is a right or...

    Coolant leak (timing chain cover?)

1964 dart with 273, had coolant leak after short drive looked for source of leak and seen crack in timing chain cover attached a pic you can see crack above fuel pump. My question, would this be the source Of leak? My thought was unless thread sealer is compromised it shouldn’t leak coolant...

    cam gift

I like the cam. Itt sould work well in a 360 with decent heads. I have also used a tensioner. With a quality double roller timing set, it is really unnecessary. They were originally designed for a stock single chain.

2006 dodge 3.3 timing chain slop.

Outside the box thinking: Wouldn't it be nice if someone (or a creative mechanic) could come up with a correct length timing chain with a splice link in it? Cut the original loose chain, connect one end of the new chain to the end of the old loose chain. Fish it up around the cam gear, then...

Changing crankshaft bearings with the engine in the car.

...said. If the bearings and or crank need help, what about the cam bearings? What about the camshaft itself? The lifters? How sloppy is the timing chain? What about the rings? If this is a car you're gonna sell, then shyster it up and unload it. If you plan to keep it, you might want to rethink it.

    Crank gear differences

My thoughts are that different timing chain manufacturers have different specifications for their timing chain sets. I do not mix up different gears and chains, learned that as a kid messing with dirt bikes. Always change the drive chain and gears as a set

360 Magnum with Trick Flow heads, what gasket kit?

Fel Pro 1008´s are a good head gasket choice for this setup, also the 1213´s for the intake. Regarding the timing chain cover Fel Pro TCS 45284 should fit. Michael

    5.9L Magnum questions

I'm happy with this cam (4 speed 3.23's). I cleaned the lifters, installed a good timing chain, and swapped out the cam bearings.

    Timing gears

You mean... gear drive vs timing chain? The timing variance from stretch is zilch with a gear drive. You can hear them more though they make loud and quieter versions.

How reliable are snout extensions for the fuel pump?

I've had one in my motor for years now. Only issue I ran into was because the cam can move forward, my double roller timing chain was tapping the fuel pump arm off and on. I was able to close up the width of the arm some with a hammer and stop the noise (I think).

2006 dodge 3.3 timing chain slop.

...it. Those 3.3 pushrod engines are pretty reliable. Yep, steel gear and no tensioner. Cam in block, relatively short chain. Remember those are not OHC. I've seen well over 300K on those with no issues on timing chains. I bet if you put a new chain on it, you'd probably see close to the same slack.

    Varying spark, out of ideas

I do need to run the test again, and use the oil check to verify if it's the pistons rings. The heads were rebuilt in 2021 by a engine building shop including the valves and installing hardened seats so I am pretty confident they are good. I read that low compression numbers across the board...
