Lakewood BBM aluminum bell alignment ring question

The correct one in the kit is very tight on the trans side, and just as tight on the bell side. I have access to a lathe. I would think it would be best to machine the OD to fit snug, then tap it onto the trans side as I install. I don't want the bell side fighting me when I actually stab...

    Alignment with ductile-iron rockers?

...hold-downs. My cam has .652 gross lift and .018 lash, with spring pressures of approximately 130/430 lbs. How critical is lateral alignment with the iron rockers? They have a pad that slides across the valve tip, not a roller... the old valves show a "stripe" that goes all the way across...

    A833 driveshaft length?

I’m using a hydraulic bearing. Grabbed some 3/8 bolts to replace the stock 7/16 for the bottom holes. The alignment ring is good. Hopefully I’m not missing anything else with this bell? I bought it 3 years ago before I knew it was a pos, had this swap planned for awhile

...on them for a living do You? If You had to bump the car's position on a rack to get the arms under, or perform the roll-out on almost every alignment machine made today, You'd know why having auto-electric park engagement sucks balls & makes the life of a tech miserable. Now You have to get...

That was the point of the swap. The single pulley and inner pulley on the double are in the same location.

    Upper control arm

These guys have it right, “in the red” doesn’t mean anything at all unless we know what specs the shop is trying to set the alignment to. If their computer has stock alignment specs in it, the alignment you want would be “in the red”. And as others have already said, Moog offset bushings are...

Not really necessary. The alignment specs can make up for your weight.

HELP NEEDED Identifying Brake Spindle - likely from a late 70s Volare

...brake kits. mounting the caliper forward or rearward by swapping the spindle side to side has no effect what so ever on wheel fitment, alignment, ride, etc, etc, etc. ETA: spindles do have part numbers, they're just extremely hard to see. here's an example highlighted as best i can with a...

    Early A-body steering modification

no lies. on my previous 64 & 65 darts with 16:1 manual rolling on 15" wide-ish performance/track tires and an aggressive alignment all you needed to do was think about changing lanes and you were one over.

Small question about disc brake swaps

...a lighter casting by about 3lb you can mount any disc brake kit that is designed for the big ball joint upper, so the years/bodies listed above. i've installed and sold tons of the FMJR spindles and even run them on my cars and never had a problem with alignment, steering/ride or bumpsteer.

    sterring wheel centering

If you need to do that, something serious is wrong. The steering wheel is meant to only go on one way. That's why it has a master spline. Centering the wheel is supposed to be done by adjusting the tie rods as part of an alignment.

67 GTS 4-Speed: Daily Summer Driver

I have been slowly lowering the front of the car and it is handling a little better. It may be at the point where I try the alignment again. Other than that, and the brake pedal height (just got the adjustable rod this week), its running great! its a fun car to drive. Slowly putting small...

    12:05 Garage- ’70 Duster build

How did you go about moving the LCA’s forward? Thinner spacer on the front and thicker on the back? My tires are a little farther back than I’d like as well.

    12:05 Garage- ’70 Duster build

...I had them mounted up. This is my old 235/40 compared to the new 265/35 for the front. I'll get some more photos outside once I get my alignment done. I moved the LCA forward more to get the tire away from the rear side of the fender. The front wheels are 1/8" further out than the old...

...back that Denny was checking in to having some 2” studs made to work with the QA1’s, I’ll have to check with him to see if those are available. It definitely needs an improvement in the alignment. I didn’t get as much caster last time as I would’ve liked, and it’s pulling to the left now as...

The man wants MORE caster. How about this idea?

...that I could get. I'm being reminded of how inter-related that caster and camber can be. In short, I started down the road of doing my own alignment because I suspected that the alignment shop that I used may have lied about the numbers on my car. I was told it aligned to over 5 degrees of...

Weld subframe connectors loaded or unloaded?

    Mount caster/camber gauge

I have a magnetic caster/camber gauge, and I use my spare tire/wheel and another spare from a junkyard (both with steel rims and same size tires) to set the alignment. After the alignment is set, put the mags back on and you are ready to roll.

    Mount caster/camber gauge

...to set the Camber and the 20° to 20° degree swing needed to determine the Caster. Offset rims will put more leverage on all the front alignment parts, throwing off what the actual stock recommended settings should be. Beg, borrow, or steal a stock set of rims and tires. Do the alignment...
